Built from the ground up to emulate analog chaos, digital bits power every nuance of Audrey II’s feedback, distortion, and reverb-drenched echoes. PRISTINE SOUND
Powered by the Daisy Seed microcontroller, Audrey II delivers 96kHz / 24-bit audio with the speed of an ARM Cortex-M7 at 480MHz. Equipped with 64MB of SDRAM, it handles complex feedback, drones, and effects seamlessly, pushing digital synthesis into rich, analog-like territory.
THE SIGNAL FLOW
01. Karplus-Strong Synthesis & Distortion
The signal begins with Karplus-Strong synthesis, a method of string synthesis that creates resonant, droning tones—adding layers of harmonics to emulate organic vibrations, while feedback and distortion weave in raw, aggressive edges.
02. Reverb
Next, the signal passes through a rich, spacious reverb, allowing the drone and feedback to bloom, creating haunting and immersive atmospheres.
03. Filters
Following the reverb, Audrey II utilizes high-pass and low-pass filters with a body control to shape the sound further, revealing hidden overtones and harmonic textures that can add either warmth or an eerie sharpness to the feedback.
04. Tape Delay Emulation
Finally, the signal reaches a tape delay emulator that further degrades and expands the sound, adding layers of movement, modulation, and a classic tape echo feel that’s both nostalgic and unpredictable.
