Audrey II Horrorscape Synth // First Encounter

video upload by Genshi Media Group

"::| WARNING! EXTREME FREQUENCIES AHEAD! USE CAUTION |::

A first encounter with the Audrey II Horrorscape Synthesizer from ‪@SynthuxAcademy‬
yes, there are many other videos of this extremely basic, yet very epic synth, but I got one for my horror/sci-fi film scoring work, and thought you all might like to hear how it sounds... if you haven't already. My next video with it will try to incorporate other instruments in a more film score style."

Touch 2 by Synthux Academy!

video upload by Quincas Moreira Music

"This is an edit (by Edgar Lopez - Thanks Edgar) of the composition livestream I did (I try to do them daily) centered around the Synhux Academy Simple Touch 2 synthesizers I was given by the brand at Superbooth 2024. It's the first in this new format where I focus certain livestreams on composing with a particular instrument and then turn that stream into a review or tutorial. Hope you like it!"

Beyond Clouds – Spotykach x Touch 2 FX Sound Experiment

video upload by Synthux Academy

"Between firmware testing and design, I took a moment to explore Spotykach with Touch 2 FX. What what a combination! The tactility of both instruments makes for an intuitive, hands-on experience. Simple yet endlessly explorative, fluid, and expressive.

ABOUT SPOTYKACH
Spotykach will be released in small batches starting in June 2025. Make sure to join the Synthux Community to get notified when it's out - www.synthux.academy/join

Spotykach is a looping playground for hands-on sound exploration and performance. It revolves around three distinct modes, each channeling a different era of looping: the hypnotic tape manipulations of the ’60s, the razor-sharp slicing of the ’90s, and something entirely new—emerging from the intersection of chance, texture, and time. With two decks, 12 responsive touch pads, CV and MIDI connectivity, plus built-in modulation sources."

How to add a Trigger to Audrey II Synth

video upload by Wirehead Instruments

"Simple hardware mod to add a trigger to the Synthux Academy Audrey II feedback synthesizer.

The trigger shorts the feedback control to maximum voltage (VCC), so the control is set to max while the button is pressed.

Enables a different expressive performance vs playing the feedback control itself.

Parts: 1 x normally open switch

Caveats: Modifier-beware! I am not responsible if you blow up your Audrey!! ☹️ in particular, the mod is crude and merely shorts the wiper to VCC.

If the feedback control is set to the minimum, this effextively shorts GROUND to VCC through the wiper resistance only (usually less than 50ohms).

in testing this makes a slight glitch in the sound, but is likely to be doing som damage to the Daisyseed, so olease be careful!!!"

No Midi. No CV. Endless Hours of fun!

video upload by Synthux Academy

"The Audrey II Horrorscape Synthesizer is a Karplus-Strong feedback monster—no MIDI, no CV, no input—just pure sonic chaos. Yet, somehow, it’s hours of fun. In this video, we explore why constraints fuel creativity, featuring insights from Charlie Clouser (Saw composer, ex-NIN). Plus, we’re dropping a new firmware update that improves the sound engine and eliminates digital distortion at extreme reverb settings!

Audrey II Demo - Synthux Academy

video upload by Stazma

"Today we are checking out weird and wonderful Audrey II by Synthux Academy.
This digital synth that you play only with knobs is emulating feedback in the way you can hear it when you place an electric guitar close to it's amp.
It sounds VERY good and you can use it to make a some horror soundscape or, as you will see, to create weird textures that you can can cut up into percussions."

We Need to Talk About PCB Waste… (And How You Can Help)

video upload by Synthux Academy

"I’ve got a love-hate relationship with PCB faceplates. On the one hand, they open up a world of creative possibilities—custom LED cutouts, intricate designs, and a more experimental approach to synth aesthetics. It’s like designing an interactive poster rather than just a control panel. But on the other hand… they come with a hidden cost.

Audrey II by Synthux Academy

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"The Audrey II is not a eurorack module, but it's 3U and it fits perfectly. It's line level but I had no problems using it in the modular case. Audrey refers to the man-eating plant in the Little Shop of Horrors, but it doesn't sound horrific at all. If you love the sound of feedback. It's advertised as a Horrorscape synth so it can easily score a scary movie. If you're a channel regular you may know I love feedback patching and I have a 'cybernetics' series.

Audrey uses a complex structure of noise, feedback, filters, possibly a bit of physical modelling or resonating, more feedback and finally a pitch shifting filter that can also self-oscillate. So it basically creates self-oscillating harmonies. Personally, I think it sounds just beautiful and I can listen to it for hours.

But after 24 hours you may want to take it a few steps further and the modular is just the perfect enviroment to do just that.

The Audrey is made by the Synthux Academy. I't a non-profit foundation with a mission to build unique instruments, to help them play, build and code them yourself, to provide online masterclasses and beginner's courses, etc. It doesn't come cheap when you order it built, but the DIY kit is super easy to solder (anyone can do it) and it's great fun to play. Obviously all revenue goes back into the foundation and Audrey II is an important step towards a future. So it's been an honour to support it. Audrey II is not for everyone but if you're aspiring to program your own DSP modules or just 'borrow' other people's code and hack a few lines of code, Synthux offers great resources to get started. This video is sponsored, but it's sponsored by me because I believe in this stuff. It helps me to make special videos.

I will definitely explore the buidling blocks of Audrey and try to find out if it's possible to 'make' one with existing modules or VCV. I'll also investigate bit of Daisy Seed programming, and maybe I'll succeed in porting a Versio firmware into something I've always wanted. The Reversio..."

Mastering Feedback: The Art of Sonic Chaos | Audrey II Synthesizer

video upload by Synthux Academy

"Feedback. Some avoid it at all costs. Others find the most haunting, electrifying sounds hidden within the noise. In this video, we explore how controlled feedback can be transformed from an unwanted screech into a powerful musical tool. Using the Audrey II synthesizer, we’ll show you how to capture, shape, and unleash feedback to create everything from eerie soundscapes to rich, sustained tones. Perfect for musicians and sound designers looking to push the boundaries of their craft—discover how feedback can add a whole new dimension to your music."

via Synthux Academy

"Audrey II is a horrorscape synthesizer designed for fearless exploration of feedback. Unpredictable yet compelling, it transforms chaotic sound into immersive soundscapes. From deep, haunting drones to screeching, otherworldly tones, Audrey II is a sonic beast like no other.

FEEDBACK SYNTHESIS?

What is feedback, really? It’s that magical moment when sound loops on itself, evolving into something wild. With Audrey II, we’re taking feedback to the next level using Karplus-Strong synthesis—a fancy term for turning short bursts of noise into rich, self-sustaining tones. Think digital strings, but way cooler.

DIGITAL WITCHCRAFT

Some say analog is the only way to get that sound… We were surprised too when we heard the first burst of noise coming through our headphones. That warmth, the grit, the unpredictability—it was all there. But here’s the twist: Audrey II is 100% digital, running on the almighty Daisy Seed platform.

Built from the ground up to emulate analog chaos, digital bits power every nuance of Audrey II’s feedback, distortion, and reverb-drenched echoes. It’s pure digital magic that doesn’t just imitate analog—it embraces and amplifies it. What you hear isn’t just a close approximation; it’s a whole new breed of sound that pushes digital synthesis into uncharted territory.

PRISTINE SOUND

Powered by the Daisy Seed microcontroller, Audrey II delivers 96kHz / 24-bit audio with the speed of an ARM Cortex-M7 at 480MHz. Equipped with 64MB of SDRAM, it handles complex feedback, drones, and effects seamlessly, pushing digital synthesis into rich, analog-like territory.
