"My friend Simon (aka mosaictapes on Instagram) came over the other day, and we were toying around with the Sines app on Norns. We added some noise options, including modulating the frequency with noise, giving this lovely instability to the sound. Then added two sequencers: One wave based and one stochastic drift based. Here the drift sequencer slowly plays the sine waves, represented by the bars in the Grid (sorry about the cable in the way!). DM me on IG if you would like a copy of this edited script.

I added an evolving bass drone on Atrium - something that's super easy to do with the internal gestures and LFOs. Cocoquantus has a little loop of the Norns, then there's Oto Bim and Boum, and Walrus Audio Slöer just off screen. There's no talking here, and no changes in the patch - I just thought I would leave it running for you to enjoy / mong out to 🫠🫠🫠

"When the Cocoquantus2 first appeared, it didn’t just find an audience—it created one. Musicians, experimentalists, producers, and curious tinkerers fell in love with its organic chaos, character, and uncanny ability to turn accidents into art. It became a modern cult instrument because you couldn’t play it without forming a relationship with it.

Café Quantum continues that lineage with reverence—then boldly invents a new chapter.

At its core, Café Quantum preserves the tactile immediacy and playful unpredictability of the Coco ecosystem. But surrounding that familiar heart are entirely new tools designed to make the instrument feel more alive, more intelligent, and more expressive.

One of the biggest leaps is the open-source programmable engine. For the first time, players can write their own behaviors—little sonic personalities— at the Cafe modules, one for each side, and the Quantum module can carry them out by patching points. Whether it’s generative patches, evolving modulation, rhythmic structures, or strange autonomous rituals, the instrument becomes a creative partner. The preamp has grown up too. Now it features a Norton gain character and adds a VCA input, making external dynamics, sidechaining, and voltage-controlled level manipulation feel effortless. Then comes the new magic trick:

This utility instrument contains x4 SCROLLFO, and x4 MOBVRT.

SCROLLFO is a unique LFO circuit based on the original scroll circuit from Peter’s SIDRASSI/RAZZI/TETRASSI/RAZZI units.
But expanded upon.
You have an on/off/on round button switch that allows you to momentarily activate the LFO, or latch it on, when the button is released or in the off position, it samples where it was at in the lfo cycle and holds that value, to give you the ability to generate random pitch voltages/CV voltages.
This button also has a pulse input that allows you to trigger the switch hands free.
flanking each side of the big lfo button are the 2 square buttons - one pulls the signal to ground, and the other pulls the signal to mido.
These 2 buttons also have CV inputs that allow you to fight against the LFO (when it is active) or to set virtual ground and ground on other gear.

MOBVRT is a MIDO biased OFFSET, BOOST, and ATTENUVERTER - giving you the ability to move your @ciat_lonbarde signals anywhere you want in the unipolar boundaries!
Think an offset/attenuverter module for eurorack, but specifically for ciat-lonbarde voltage levels!"
