ImpulseDie – Patchable Drum Synth & Looper | Out Now (inspired by SOMA Pulsar-23)
video upload by Diego Capoccitti
"ImpulseDie is out: a drum synthesizer you patch with cables, inspired by SOMA Pulsar-23. In this video: the hardware that inspired it, a quick look around, and a techno groove built from an empty panel, one cable at a time.
Four voices (kick, bass, snare, hi-hat), four tape-style loopers with a piano-roll view, a clock divider, the SHAOS random generator, an LFO, delay, reverb, distortion and 122 pins: any output can go into any input.

ImpulseDie // SOMA Pulsar-23-inspired drum machine, desktop & iOS, Diego Capoccitti // Walkthrough
video upload by Gavinski’s Tutorials
"This is a walkthrough of the ImpulseDie plugin for iOS and desktop by Diego Capoccitti, a four-voice drum synth (kick, bass, snare, hi-hat) with a tape-style looper and a set of small utility modules that you connect with virtual cables. This is an unofficial emulation of the Soma Labs Pulsar-23 hardware. Soma Labs know about this release and have no issue with it, btw. This video explains most of ImpulseDie’s important controls, and will teach you how to use the app much faster than going through the manual will.
You can go very experimental here, but you can also make much more conventional drum grooves, and early in the video I demo both styles.
Note that although you can go very deep with your cable patching, you can also use ImpulseDie in a much simpler way, focusing on dialing in the sounds of the main voices and recording your drums manually, as in the hardware, or using the looper page of this app which even allows you to draw your hits in, something that is not possible with the hardware but which is very very useful indeed.
Thanks to Diego for sponsoring this video. Sponsorships pay for my time, not my opinions, and I only do sponsored videos on apps that I like.
