DIY dekatron synth module demo

Published on Oct 21, 2012 by MrPalebluedot

"Here is just a quick emonstration using the dekatron module as a CV source. It basically functions like a burst generator, outputting 3 pulses at the end of each rotation. The output is turning on the cycle of a 4MS PEG which is opening a VCA. Just showing basic speeds settings and the deketron being driven by external CV via a Jerkster Chaos module."

Kind of looks like a vacuum tube with LEDs in it.

Dekatron DIY eurorack module as oscillator / noise maker

"Just a quick, dirty demonstration of how a ekatron can be "played" as a synched oscillator. Nasty and unpredictable"

DEKATRON PULSER video 2

YouTube Published on Jul 8, 2012 by MrPalebluedot

"I'm just about done with this. I plan to make it into a eurorack module. This video shows the added voltage control which is an step interupt. The LFO is feeding a signal into the dekatron causing the dekatron to stop when the signal is high. The sound you hear is directly from the dekatron output. WHile I plan to primarily use it as a VC source, it can make some interesting rhythms and sounds as you can hear in the video."

Dekatron "pulse" generator

YouTube Published on Jun 23, 2012 by MrPalebluedot

"Experimenting with a dekatron spinner circuit as a pulser or trigger generator thing for my modular synthesizer. It has a switch for high and low range and a pot for speed. I plan to add a voltage control input(s).

The output is a grouping of 3 "pulses". The first part of the video, the dekatron is used to open a tube VCA with a fixed tone going into the VCA. The later part of the video is the sound of the dekatron its self. It's very unique, it puts out a noise type of sound for each cathode stage and then the tripple-pulse tone per decade"

"'accept' by False God -
Dekatron sequencer and tube VCO provide synth sounds, Korg ES1 does the rest. Not much of a vid, unless you are currently undergoing self-inflicted serotonin replacement therapy....in which case - enjoy the pretty swirling colours!
btw - the relay clicking does not appear on the soundpath! (see dekatron sequencer vid)" more vids

dekatron sequencer

YouTube via cirtcele
"dekatron sequencer driving tube synth. The clock circuit includes a relay which clacks away somewhat charmingly. The relay noise does not get into the sound path of the synth, it is just the noise the synth makes whilst operating. Sound is recorded over the camera's microphone so you all can enjoy 60 seconds of clack clack clack clack clack.
