Playing Light Like an Instrument — Open-Source LED Synthesizer

video upload by engmung

Note 1:43 in the video. Patternflow can be used as a controller via OSC.

"Patternflow is an open-source LED synthesizer — a 128×64 HUB75E matrix driven by an ESP32-S3, with four knobs wired straight into the pattern math. Turn a knob, and the pattern bends with your hand.

Everything is open source: STL files, Blender sources, PCB gerbers, and firmware. The full build runs around $100 depending on where you order parts.

Patternflow began with Nam June Paik's Participation TV (1963), the first work where the audience could touch the image. I wanted to go one step further — so I built an instrument where you make the image yourself.
