THE MAGIC OF THE NOVACHORD Collins H Driggs 3 x 78 LPs

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"For sale is a vintage 1941 shellac LP copy of The Magic of The Novachord on 3 x 10" records (Victor, P-57). This album features some of the earliest recorded electronic music from the Hammond Novachord. Far ahead of it's time the Novachord premiered at the 1939 New York World Fair, and within 3 years manufacturing of the instrument ceased. Perhaps the Novachord's 500 lb weight or the featured 160 vacuum tubes and nearly 1000 capacitors contributed to poor sales of this synthesizer and it's decline. This set is perfect for sampling from or to add to your growing collection of antiques synth LPs."

Benge Releases All EMS Polysynthi Album - Forms 3

"One of the interesting things about creating an album using just one synthesiser is that it puts you in the 'sonic era' of the machine that you are working with. So for this reason I decided to create these tracks with this idea in mind, resulting hopefully in a sound reminiscent of the musical cues found on certain late 1970s soundtrack or library albums. Therefore when listening to this record it would not be inappropriate to try and imagine yourself immersed in a progressive Television Play such as would have been broadcast on on a sunday evening in 1978

This record was made using the EMS Polysynthi electronic polyphonic synthesiser. All sounds were created and played on this single machine, and then recorded directly to multi-track tape in overlaying passes. The only exception to this was the minor addition of monophonic spring reverberation via the EMS VCS3 and some occasional band-pass filtering courtesy of the EMS 8-octave filter bank

Electronic System - Tequila (1975)

Published on May 13, 2013 mondo moog·12 videos

One last one from mondo moog's channel.

The assumption is this was done on a Moog, but the year was 1975 and other synths by ARP, EML, Roland, Korg, Yamaha and so on were also available. I'm only finding mp3 searching for the release online. If anyone has any additional details feel free to comment. You'll find some release details on discogs

via this auction

Already sold for $19.99. This one in via Dumb Luck.

"This is a Rare Vintage LP Record Promotional Picture Disc for Roland professional Recording Equipment. The 33 1/3 / 12” record is on a Clear Vinyl., with the image of the 'Drumatix TR-606' Drum Machine on one side, and the 'Bass Line TB-303' Analog Synthesizer on the reverse side. The record is oddly die-cut to fit the rectangular shape of the machines. The record comes in its original clear plastic sleeve. The record is in great condition, with no apparent wear. The plastic sleeve cover has some creases along its edges..."

Update via Nick: "According to Discogs this was not a 303 and 606 demo disc made by Roland, but a release by Caustic Windows. Or maybe it was and RDJ that that was neat so he made is own release which copied it. http://www.discogs.com/Caustic-Window-Joyrex-J9/release/19315"

Important Records wrote in to let us know they have three new releases showcasing one synth each.   Alessandro Cortini's "Forse2" was made entirely on the original Buchla Music Easel, Eliane Radique's Adnos I-III was composed with an ARP 2500, and ELEH features an 8 panel Serge modular wynthesizer.
Full details and links:

"-Alessandro Cortini’s “Forse 2” is now available. Made entirely on an original Buchla Music Easel, just like 'Forse 1' but with an entirely different mood to it.

This is a 2xLP and the second in a series of 3 releases we have planned with Alessandro. Hopefully the CD Box will be out early next year. A cassette for our sister label Cassauna is in the works too for his Synthi A explorations.

Make Noise Shared System Release Featuring Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe

The third release in the Make Noise Records Shared System Series, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe: Heptagramic Approximation & Alpha Crucis is now available.

"For this series we were given fairly strict parameters within a system coming from one designer with a heavy aesthetic. The challenge was to create two real time patch pieces recorded without multi tracking or any sort of outboard gear, effects, etc. Everything you will hear on these sides was done in a single pass without treatment of any kind outside of what was in the synthesizer. any delays or echoes you hear are generated by the machine..."

IDOW: Robert Wheeler & Allen Ravenstine Release EML 101 & 200 Recordings

Pere Ubu's Robert Wheeler & Allen Ravenstine, featured in the modular documentary I Dream of Wires, have released two LPs on 12" vinyl, City Desk & Farm Report, featuring the EML 101 & 200.  You can watch a clip from IDOW featuring them and their EML systems including a custom EML in this prior post.  A double CD is planned in the future.

"In the spring of 2012, Allen Ravenstine and Robert Wheeler travelled to historic Grant Avenue Studio in Hamilton, Ontario, to appear in I Dream of Wires, a film documentary about the role of modular synthesizers in electronic music.

Canadian Filmmaker Robert Fantinatto dedicated 20 minutes to an interview with the two pioneers of industrial electronics, and their choice of the unique EML Electrocomp synthesizer as a performance instrument in Pere Ubu.

Allen Ravenstine was a composer, patron and pioneer of the burgeoning Cleveland arts scene in the early 1970's. As synthesist with Pere Ubu, playing the EML-200 and later the EML-101, he earned international acclaim for his inspired use of industrial sound before retiring from popular music in the late 1980's. His approach to live performance - rejecting the traditional tonal keyboard for an intuitive wash of modulated noise - has been much imitated but rarely equaled.

Robert Wheeler (of Home & Garden) joined Pere Ubu in 1994, playing the EML-101 and a handmade Theremin. He is a relative of Thomas Edison - a birthright that led him to take a leading role in the Edison Birthplace Museum in Milan, Ohio. In January 2010, he accepted a Grammy Award on Edison's behalf..."

Benge's Twenty Systems Re-Released

via Benge's It's Full of Stars

"My 2008 album Twenty Systems has been reissued at last! So if you have been looking for it out there in the shops or online since it sold out a few years ago - well you can get it here (if you are in USA you can pre-order it here). The release is exactly the same as the original with the exception of a few minor tweaks that niggled me about the original (but the content and audio are identical). Thanks to Steve Malins, Darren at Cargo, and Paul Agar for helping to make it happen this time round!"

This is a great release and comes with a booklet filled with synth pics as you can see from some of the shots below.  Click here for a pic of the book.  Each track features only one synth.  You'll find a link to an interview with Benge on the initial release with some additional notes here.   The release transverses synths over time starting with the 1968 Moog modular and ending with 1987's Kawai K5.  This release is HIGHLY recommended for the music, the pics and audio showcasing individual synths.
