QUASIMIDI THE RAVEN MAX Synthesizer 1996 | HD DEMO
Published on Sep 3, 2017 AnalogAudio1
"(c) 2017 by AnalogAudio1
I played the Quasimidi Raven without any additional effects or eq. All effects and sounds including the intro come from the Raven Max. I play mainly factory sounds.
The Raven was developed and produced by Quasimidi in Germany in 1996. It was not the first blue synth from Germany ;-). Quasimidi closed its doors in 2000. The Raven has 2 modes: 1. the PERFORMANCE mode, which allows you to combine 4 sounds with 2 effect processors, with arpeggiators to a "performance". 2. the SEQUENCER mode, where you can combine (preset) part patterns (for bass, sequencer, chord, drums...) to achieve new authentic electronica/techno styles. The 2 effect processors are editable and can be added to the single parts. Muting of single parts in realtime possible.
Later, the MAX expansion came out, which expanded the Raven with 1000 new sounds, 64 MB new sample material, new loops and motivs and new OS with new functions. Later Raven keyboards were sold exclusively with the MAX. The Max came out with its own 33 page manual to describe the new functions. And yes, it is possible to create own motivs and patterns, but the concept is clearly designed for the preset user.
Back in the day, the RAVEN was the only way to make techno tracks with one single keyboard, it was the first of its kind. Later, the big manufacturers took Quasimidi's concept further (or should I say they actually stole it?) - Yamaha with the QS300 and CS1x, Roland with the JX-305 Groovesynth, just to name a few.
From 8:15 it gets groovy ;-)"

For fun, I've sampled over 100 sounds from it into the Elektron Digitakt.
In this video, I show 14 grooves that I wrote in the Digitakt, using *ONLY* the sounds that I directly sampled from the Quasimidi Raven.

"Quasimidi The Raven including the rare MAX sound-card extension!!
In addition, a CD with 650 sounds and 150 arpeggios is included.
The RavenMAX is in perfect technical condition. Optically excellent, apart from some marks on the right side of the screen bezel which can be seen on the pictures.
The Raven is a very underrated synth. Originally marketed for Techno/Rave Music, it is actually an outstanding synth for Ambient Music and Atmospheric Sounds as it can be seen in the 'Quasimidi Raven Ambika' video" [posted here]

I had a RAVEN synthesizer with MAX board between the other #Quasimidi stuff. Sirius , Cyber-6, Polymorph, Quasar, Technox...
Before YouTube I have make some tracks with this QM stuff. Unfortunately I lost the most after a disk crash in 2001.
But I have a lot demo stuff in my big synthesizer archive and I will show some demos here from time to time .
The #Raven is a ROM sample based #synthesizer workstation with synthesizer, sequencer, drumcomputer, arpeggiator, fx processors from the year 1996.

"Built in 8 track sequencer on the Sirus/Polymorph tip. You can layer up to 4 sounds Built in samples are absolutely nutty, 303, 909, etc... It also functions as a great controller keyboard, just ask Kraftwerk This Raven Max is in great condition and 100% functional The Max expansion adds twice as much onboard samples and presets"
"Notice the picture of the manual: it does show the Quasimidi in the studio of Klaus Schulze. One of the R&D persons of Quasimidi is Jörg Schaaf (now Mr. Spectralis) is a friend to Klaus. So he drop in from time to time and showed Klaus the new Quasimidi stuff then. Klaus Schulze still uses a Quasimidi as his main keyboard in a drawer below the mixer and the computer displays.
Here are more pictures of Klaus studio with Quasimidi keyboard shown:

"Here is a rare vintage virtual analog German synth in excellent condition. Cleverly called The Raven, this synth immediately gets you in the ballpark for dance, electronic, techno, EDM, IDM. Has a built in sequencer with synth and drum sounds. Cosmetically, very nice condition and includes a custom black synth cover as seen in photos. The only blemishes are a small scratch over “The Raven” logo and on the underside of the wooden sides have a bit of wear (both as pictured). The screen is nice, bright, and clear (though my phone camera does not show a good job of it). To be clear, this does not have the Raven MAX card installed. Thanks for looking!
The Raven is a mid-90's virtual analog synthesizer by the German company Quasimidi. Designed to tailor to dance music genres, the Raven features a full palette of preset sounds, 8-track sequencer, 24 voice polyphony, arpeggiators, and the "Motivator" feature for programming real-time parameter changes."

"I used the same sequence on the polymorph as in the short demo but now played random. Drums, percussion and a bassline come from the 309, there is some rythmic noise and another bass sequence from the polymorph."

"There was once a small, fine blacksmith named Quasimidi synthesizers. Of them have been privileged to produce a manageable number of successful, highly popular digital sound module ...
Among other things, this variator is a modification of [the more familiar "Raven" - different design, Raven-Max] extension and new, unique and powerful sound, designed for the Quasimidi presentation in the Musikmesse Frankfurt in 1997, where he was also the first time was presented.
There is the Quasimidi variator only six times in the world - absolute collector's item and unique opportunity!
There is allegedly one of them owned by Jean-Michel Jarre ...
