Hydrasynth Presets with Juno 60 / 106 style analog chorus

video upload by Tena Lock (Tenalock)

"Decided to do another video about the Hydrasynth trying to capture that magical Roland Juno 106 and Juno 60 using presets I programmed. Using the magic of bucket brigade analog chorus.

You can see me turning off the chorus on the Hydrasynth sometimes, and sometimes leaving it on because it sounds better to my ears. If you turn off the Hydrasynth chorus it can be better because it doesn’t sound over the top and cause phasing that makes it sound worse.

When you see the cost of plugin chorus like Roland cloud Juno 60 chorus for $160 but then you can buy and analog chorus that does (imo) an even better job for $120 you might think the world has gone crazy lol ( the in version 2 of the chorus pedal - much better)

You can’t hear the Hydrasynth effects of the built chorus here when the pedal is off because you have to use a mono out into the stereo chorus.

If you want to hear the output of the Hydrasynth stereo chorus head here:"

Juno 106 Bank A for Hydrasynth - Random Jamming and camera testing

video upload by Tena Lock (Tenalock)

"The roland juno 106 is so epic that I have been making juno 106 sounds for my hydrasynth. there seems to be a camera malfunction during this video but the audio still plays and teh video comes back.

If it can go worng, it will, Lol. I'm trying.

Hydrasynth sounds influenced by the Sequential Prophet 5 and Yamaha CS80

video upload by Tena Lock

"I have used analog modelling techniques to try and capture the magic of analog synthesisers such as the sequential prophet 5 and Yamaha CS-80 while programming the affordable digital Hydrasynth which has a very extensive list of editable synthesis parameters.

An example is using key tracking to vary the modulations on each key for sometimes very subtle variations of pwm, tone and phase to great overall effect.

I own a sequential prophet 5 that I could use for referencing and used video references for the CS-80 flavours.

The sound design for many of these sounds takes a great deal of time in order to achieve the desired results.

I hope that players with way more playing skills than me can take advantage of these sounds and create some epic music.

The equipment I currently use, besides the Hydrasynth, is a Yamaha CS101 (digital I know but sounds so different for whatever reason), a Sequential Prophet 5, a Moog Little Phatty and a Korg DW-8000. I make synthwave and chillwave music. I also have boxes of other analog synths that periodically I bring out for inspiration. I have owned and programmed most ( well so many) synths from the late 70s and early 80s. I owned them mainly when they were not the price of gold, and sold them to eat when required.

Enjoy these sounds and if you use them link me to your productions.

Also I want to say that sound packs are not only useful for the sounds, but you can also look at how the sounds were designed and learn a great deal to advance your own skills.

I am certainly not claiming to be a synth guru, but I may have the 10 000 hours working with synthesizers.

Enjoy the sounds.

9 Most Famous Synthesizer Sounds Ever - played on Hydrasynth

video upload by Tena Lock (Tenalock)

"Well I had an ideas to make famous synthesizer sounds for Hydrasynth and give them away. I’ll drop the link tomorrow, I am falling asleep, as usual it took 5 times longer than I thought to everything done.

I started off with Ben Bohmer and Beyond abeles lead, I though why not to a modern track mixed in with vintage ones.

Then Daft Punk, Europe- the final Countdown, Duran Duran, Axel F Harold Faltemyer and the unison sweep from Rush originally on the OBx I think.

So much nostalgia in these classic synth sound and very happy with the results"

Hydrasynth Sounds Influenced by the Sequential Prophet 5

video upload by Tena Lock

"So I am about to sell my Hydrasynth (mostly financial) but I thought, before I do, I will have a go at cloning some favourite style of sounds as I am in the good position of owning both, and have a lot of sound design experience.

There are no delays or reverb effects on these sounds.

I was going to make a full bank but rather than fill it with 'fill' I just chose the best 6 sounds because if I buy a back there are usually only a couple of sounds that interest me in reality. I will get a whole bank for one sound I really like.

The hydrasynth is no Prophet 5 but I think I have managed to capture some magic beyond what I previously gave it credit for.

Some thoughts: A Hydra with an analog filter though like the Arturia Mini Freak that just got released, it would make a huge difference IMO. A hydrasynth plugin, I personally prefer digital synths in plugin form, I find it so much easier and faster to work with.

Anyway, This was the best I could get synthesising and adjusting the Hydrasynth for many hours to arrive at these sounds. Pretty happy with the results, and learned a lot. These are the kind of sounds I like."
