tech notes:
this is a one take live recording. with mixing and mastering done in post.

all audio recording are multi-tracked (4 stereo channel) via usb c from S-4 to my hackintosh (macos sequoia). recorded using ableton live 11.

i set the buffer size to 256, which seems to be a sweet spot. i was using buffer size 128, but i was getting a lot of noise crackles/cpu drop out.

ableton is sending midi clock to S-4 via usb, then from S-4 i send midi clock to Plinky via TRS 3.5mm. i was sending midi clock to Plinky from ableton via usb, but it was not stable/very wonky. then i tried the TRS from S-4 which was very tight and a lot better.
and also , i need the set the midi sync delay in ableton, i think its about -36ms.

audio out from Plinky goes to S-4 analog in, and i put it into track 4."

About Mike Sheridan
Mike Sheridan has been a part of the Copenhagen electronic music scene since the mid 00’s. He entered the scene, barely in his teens, with his landmark debut album I Syv Sind (In Two Minds, 2008). Sheridan traced an ambient and dreamy approach, and with limited tools at hand, he constructed a teenage masterwork that few could have predicted. Among the first in his generation, Mike Sheridan launched his career to high acclaim, effectively crossing over to mainstream audiences.

There's 4 different loops on the ‪@torsoelectronics‬ S-4, two of which make use of the filterbank, which can take field recordings and turn them into something harmonic. "After just a week with the sampler, here are my first impressions:
The Torso S-4 is a powerful instrument with a lot of potential. It feels like a serious piece of gear—comparable to Elektron boxes. The performative aspect really blew me away; the Perform page combined with the Temp button is pure magic. I love it.

So far I've experienced a few bugs, but nothing too disruptive—the instrument is perfectly usable. I hope the ‪@torsoelectronics‬ team continues to update the S-4 regularly and adds new devices."
