Progress on the DIY polysynth software

video upload by POLYKIT DIY SYNTH

"I made some progress on the software side of the analog 8-voice DIY polysynth that I'm going to discuss in this video. Have fun!

Support me on Patreon to make this and other projects possible: / polykit

Check out my Eurorack DIY kits: https://store.polykit.rocks

Key features of the synth:
8 independent analog voices
one VCO/VCA/ADSR per voice
ADSR can modulate filter frequency and resonance
multi-mode filter (8 different filter responses)
fully programmable
store/restore patches
programmable control/input section
16x2 LCD
MIDI input

PolyKit DUO 6 Voice DIY Poly Synth by Craig Barnes

video uploads by Craig Barnes

"PolyKit DUO first tests as a 6 voice poly. some bugs to iron ouThis is the first test of the basic functions of this 16 voice DCO based analogue synthesizer. It will be bi-timbral when complete with upper and lower sounds with 8 voices in each, dual, split and single modes. Still a lot more work to be done. t in the software around the portamento controls, but other than that it's almost there.

Playlist:
PolyKit DUO first tests as a 6 voice poly
Bi-timbral PolyKit 16 updates
Second phase of the PolyKit construction was to create the bi-timbral software so it can create, save and load two sounds at once. so far so good with some spurious aftertouch in there.

PolyKit 16 first fully polyphonic test

PolyKit DUO preliminary demo with only one filter installed.
Preliminary testing of a single voice as I have no more AS3372E chips and they seem to be lost in the mail from Portugal. Had a few issues with wiring, always the way when you do two voices on a board at once. Filter 1 & 2 EG outputs were swapped. And EG level for voice 2 had two pins swapped on the 4053 switch between velocity and full level. Need to debug some more but so far I'm happy.

PolyKit 16, a bi-timbral 16 voice dual DCO Polysynth.
This is a short demo of a small selection of sounds produced by the PolyKit 16 programmable Polysynth. It is based on the PolyKit DCO by Jan Knipper and has been expanded from 6 note polyphonic to 16 with dual DCOs instead of single, additional sub and triangle outputs and dual LFOs and a noise source per bank of 8 voices. Still more work to do on the programming like trying to create patches as well as presets.

Stunning DIY VST Controllers by Craigyb

This one is in via Florian Anwander via the Sequencer.de forum.

According to the creator of these controllers, Craigyb:

"So when I was 16 (around 45 years ago) I used to dream of the Arp Quadra. A friend of mine who wasn't a keyboard player, but just wealthy bought one and it was sat in his front room doing nothing unless I could call around after school and have a play on this great synth.

Now I know I could probably afford to buy one, but the wife would kill me quicker than the Russians, so instead I took Cherry Audio's VST of the Quadra and created a physical beast with a PC built in to create sounds.

I then followed that up with a synth that I've never met in real life AFAIK but is also quite legendary, the Elka Synth (again a VST emulation by Cherry Audio).

I'm currently working on the Memory Moog version (MemoryMode by Cherry Audio) and I just need to finish the actual hardware as the software controller is complete."

Further below are a few more creations from Craigyb in a separate thread on the Sequencer.de forum here.

The Polykit X1 DIY Semi-Modular Analog Synthesizer

video upload by Polykit

Follow-up to Prototype of a PATCHABLE analog SYNTHESIZER

"The Polykit X1 - a DIY semi-modular, analog synthesizer. It is based on the voice card I’ve build over the last months. It brings out all parameters of the card and offers a lot of variations through patching.

I've been so happy with the outcome of the voice card for a polyphonic synth that I've build an interface for a single card. It holds jacks for control voltages and signals, pots for all parameters, switches for filter responses, utility circuits and a power supply. It is the first time I used SMD components for all major parts.

You can find all needed files to build one yourself on my GitHub site https://github.com/polykit/polykit-x-...
