Description for this shot:
The words of Richard Lainhart:
'As my notes on the Early Works page indicate, my first real compositions were created on the Moog Modular synthesizer, and I've had a sympathy for analog systems and techniques ever since. But once personal computers, MIDI, and digital audio processing became viable tools for composing and performing electronic music, I moved away from modular analog synthesizers, which weren't affordable for the average musician and were never really intended for live performance anyway.

However, one consequence of my recent collaborations with Jordan Rudess, particularly in our live electronic performances in which Jordan plays his MiniMoogs, is that I've come to miss the immediacy and organic sound of analog modular synthesizers. As a result, I decided to order a Buchla 200e Electric Music Box, which I received in June of 2007. I chose the 200e not only because of its compact size and functional density, but also because it's the only patchable modular synthesizer with preset memory, making it ideal for live performance.'"

Doepfer A-100 Acid-like Patch Experiment

YouTube via READYdot
"Here is a simple Acid-like patch. The VCS alternates between 2 waveforms that goes through a Waveshaper and the Complex Enveolpe Generator. Sequencing and beats are from Live. Recorded with T200. Oh and I am a beginner at recording video and patching! ^^"

The Monk and the Moog

via Khoral
"Fun shot of a Prodigy from "Mr Monk goes to a rock concert", episode 8, season 5.
Not very good quality... if somebody has the dvd, there's surely a better screenshot to do...
Cheers
Khoral"

I added this and the South Park posts to the Synths in TV and Film post.

blofeld teil sechszehn

YouTube via thegoacyst
"only osc2 set as pulse with PWM with filters, LFO1, one Mod and filter1 distorsion tweak. NO internal or external FX were used. NOTE that the midi sequence uses blofeld in single mode and it works flawless!!! also note the power of the comb filter :-)"

Pulsar Lives!!!

YouTube via StarfireMX
"So I finally got my PCB for the Pulsar today, got it all together, besides an obvious problem of the power being wired backwards and I problem I already knew about in the filter but to late to fix, it works great and is smaller then I though :D

Please leave any comments or visit my electronics blog at http://starfiretech.wordpress.com"

tiction experiment 1

YouTube via organofqwerty
"My first attempt at a Tiction piece, triggering various instruments in Live 8.
Thanks to Hans Kuder for making a very cool thing."

"Tiction is a flexible, nodal music sequencer.

It’s pretty simple: Each node represents an event, and a connection from one node to the next triggers the next event after a certain number of tics. Nodes send MIDI note messages and/or MIDI controller change messages when triggered. Connecting nodes in a circuit lets you start a repeating pattern when one of the nodes is triggered.

A node can change its pitch and controller values based on its position on the screen. When a node is triggered, it performs some physical action: either repelling or attracting other nearby nodes, or nudging itself in a random direction. The physical interaction between nodes allows you to construct complex, rhythmic melodies and effects without having to draw filter envelopes or touch a traditional sequencer."
