KORG CX3 OS Update

via Jo
"After more than one year waiting I finally decided to update the os of my KORG CX3 to version 2.01. Around the forums I learned it was very difficult and hazardous to upgrade because when the process failed it leaded to a non functional organ .... I had to upgrade through Windows because Korg only delivered a win executable
Fortunately I installed a bootcamp XP partition on my Macbook Pro. I made the upgrade with a simple Midisport 2X2 MIDI/USB interface .... and it worked without any kind of problem. Someone said to me it'll take more than 15 minutes to complete the update .... it only took 8 minutes ! Here are some snapshots of the KORG firmware upgrade program during the whole process. And after you'll find some pictures of the CX3 display during the process"

Note Jo sent me some nice images of the synth display uploading the OS but blogger is turning them solid black, so this one goes up more for informational purposes. If you have a CX3, upgrade at your own risk, but it looks like Jo was able to do it.

Update: "you can find the whole process here with all the snapshots and pictures taken"

"It's been a really long time, but we finally received the missing encoders (had to switch distributors due to the crisis). This means that we have about 90 Minicommands ready to go (actually, we have about 20 wooden boxes left, the new boxes should be arriving in 2 weeks)."

more details there.

Oakley Discontinuity Module Graphs

synth.nl has a post showing graphs of what the Oakley Discontinuity Module can do to audio input.

"The controls I used in the examples below are: Treshold, Fold, Discontinuity and Offset. I only use the normal output (so not the Clamp or Clip) and I put a Triangle wave from the PC function generator on the input."

Rolands Random Adventures in D# Minor part 1

YouTube via phono1337
"Live acid written completely on the fly. Using an SH-101, MC-202, TB-303, TR-606 and TR-909. Just a bit of fun.

The MC-202 runs the show as Roland originally intended. The TR-606 is silent but controlling the SH-101 filter with triggers.

Everything is random including the camera angle :-)

If you like this you can download an mp3 of the jam here (not including the writing part)
