MacBeth Transistor Ladder Filter Prototype

via Ken MacBeth on Facebook

"Pictured here is the front (component side) and back tracks side of a transistor ladder filter that I built some time back- found in my protoype graveyard! I'm going to fire it up again in the next couple of days. All built from parts that date between 1965 and 1969!"

"The Gold IC there is a cramic housing containing a Fairchild LM108D Op amp- the rest, apart from the CA3080 (Can) are 1960's transistors and Dual Transistors in metal cans!"

John Bowen Solaris Review & Audio Demos

"'The Solaris is a fusion of the most important synthesizer designs of the past 40 years'

It may sound presumptuous: the John Bowen Solaris is in some ways the epitome of synthesizer design since the 70s. Let’s see … there are various oscillators to choose from: Minimoog, CEM, Microwave, Prophet-VS, Wav (samples). Or consider the filters: Moog, Oberheim, SSM, multimode filter, comb filter, vocal filter … The modules are a journey through synthesizer history. Sure, it’s all purely digital, but the sound quality is excellent. Impressive."

Vermona Modular qMI - Midi/CV Interface

via this auction
Noisebug (RSS)

"Manufacturer Description:
Vermona´s second Eurorack module is a very flexible yet affordable MIDI/CV interface which can be up to four voice polyphonic. You can use it as four independent interfaces or in a mixed mode with simultaneous monophonic and polyphonic modes.

Details

Each of the "output channels" has a CV output with 1V/octave, a gate output and two further control voltage outputs for MIDI controllers like modulation wheel and pitch bend wheel. The output channels can be combined arbitrarily with each other or used totally independent with different MIDI channels. Combined output channels can be unisono, monophonic with rotating voice assignation or polyphonic.

There are four clock divider outputs that convert incoming MIDI clock signals as analog gate voltages. A reset output allows e.g for keeping step sequencers (with an according reset input) by MIDI start/stop commands in sync.

An important part of the concept is the simple use of all parameters without a display and complicated menu structures.

pitch-CV: 1V/octave
Gate voltages: 10V
CV1, CV2: 0-5V (or -2,5V..+2,5V with pitch bend)
legato function switchable per output channel
clock outputs (10V): 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/8T (can be doubled)
RESET output: 10V at MIDI STOP, 0V at MIDI START or CONTINUE

Inputs and Outputs

MIDI input
outputs per channel 1-4: Gate, 1V/Okt, CV1, CV1
clock depending outputs: reset, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/8T

Measures and Weight

3U Eurorack module, 24HP wide, 30mm deep. Current draw 60ma"

Roland VariOS Variphrase Rack Synthesizer & Sampler

via this auction

With original box.

"VariOS is an open-ended hardware/software system that allows musicians to build audio-based tracks with the same flexibility as MIDI. All processing is handled by the VariOS module, which is controlled using downloadable software. The first software bundle is V-Producer for VariOS. This software lets musicians manipulate a sample's pitch, time and formant, add effects and even build complete arrangements while keeping the music flowing and without CPU drain. And since the VariOS module can be updated, the system can take on entirely new functions in the future...

- Open-ended realtime audio construction system consisting of VariOS module and new V-Producer for VariOS software
- Play back up to 14 phrases simultaneously with 6-part multitimbral operation
- Award-winning VariPhrase technology for intuitive realtime manipulation of pitch, time and formant-control audio phrases like MIDI!

- Batch load/auto-encode .WAV/AIFF audio files from computer via USB and browser
- Internal memory holds up to 300 seconds of mono samples (150 seconds in stereo)
- Easy drag-and-drop sample arrangement-build a complete song in minutes!
- PhraseScope window provides free-form editing of a phrase's melody content
- GrooveScope window allows non-destructive reconstruction of rhythm loops
- Graphic editing of VariOS module's 40 multi-effects, 8 chorus types and 9 reverbs
- V-Producer for VariOS supports MIDI clock/MTC sync and audio/SMF export
- Flash memory and PC Card sample storage for using VariOS module without computer
- Future-ready with Open System Architecture, supporting V-Producer, various vintage synthesizer emulations, and whatever the future holds"
