Skot Wiedmann of Motus Mavis Featured in Yahoo Design Expo

Innovative Tech Design at Yahoo Design Expo

Skot Wiedman comes in at 2:33 with his gestural touch controller. If you are familiar with his work, see the Motus Mavis label below and of course his website MotusMavis.com. He brought us the Star Shaped Modular featured in NAMM 2009 and one of my favorite knob styles that resembles a buzz saw imo. See the label below for more including video of the star shaped modular. Yahoo Design Expo video description: "A handheld cube that lets you browse your Flickr photos. A headset that uses brainwaves to control how fast a bicyclist pedals. And Megaphone, a game that lets users play against each in public spaces with their mobile phones. Those were some of the concepts on display at the recent Yahoo Design Expo. Originally conceived by Joy Mountford when she was at Apple, the event brings together out-of-the-box design ideas by students from around the world. In this video, the Mercury News speaks with Mountford, now vice president of User Experience Design at Yahoo, and demos some of the projects."

"MakeNoise René quantized CV drives bassline, 2nd CV drives mystery module pitch. ModDemix does bass envelope, MATHS modulates mystery module Tension control and does bass (Doepfer A-110) pulse width mod."

Synthorama Synth Museum Switzerland

I visited the Synthorama synthesizer museum in Switzerland in 2008. I ran a number of posts featuring pics and video of the different synthesizer rooms. I just created a new Synthorama Matrix label for the posts. Feel free to check them out. You will be impressed by the museum. The posts remain unedited with the exception of bringing the video embeds up the larger 640 x 480 format.

Rare Clear Gleeman Pentaphonic

This one spotted by Alex on Ricardo.ch. This one is in Switzerland. The Swiss synth museum, Synthorama had one. You can see my pics from a visit here.

There's a black one listed on eBay US here. Note the built in speaker on the black one missing on the clear one here. Pics for that one captured here. See the Gleeman label below for more.

Introducing ADDA701 Voltage Controlled Oscillator

"Note: The hiss at the beginning and end of the video is due to the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) of my 550D camera that boosts the volume when doesn't detect sound. I'm connecting my mixer outputs to my camera through an attenuator cable i made that allows line inputs to be connected to the cannon's mic inputs without distorting the sound, although this does not disable the camera AGC: andregoncalves.info/ag_blog/?page_id=212"

Update:
"In the video you can see 3 ADDAC701 VCO's in action.
it starts with all three in rectangular waveforms with fast pwm modulation through the ADDAC502 Lissajous Curves.
ADDAC501 Complex Random in Quantized mode is used to generate the notes heard at a fixed speed.
The video goes through with all 3 VCO's in Saw waveform, then in Triangle and last with Sine Waveform.

A detailed description of the patch:

Audio Path:
All three ADDAC701 VCO's are connected to ADDAC801 Simple Mixer from their AUX OUT+
Second and third VCO's are also connected to the bottom oscilloscope of ADDAC205 Dual Oscilloscope from their AUX OUT- output.
The ADDAC801 Output is both connected to the sound system and to the top oscilloscope of ADDAC205 Dual Oscilloscope

Control Path:
Each of the 3 ADDAC501 Complex Random outputs is conneced to each VCO, controlling their frequency, ADDAC501 is in Quantized Mode.

3 outputs of the ADDAC502 Lissajous Curves are connected to the PWM of each VCO.

"Here's a quick video of the micromac being driven by a three track sequence coming from my ASR-10 keyboard! I'm also using a Kenton Pro4 to some MIDI to CV conversion. The track is called Wonky Bicycle because of the bizzare tuning!"
