BeatBOX controller config Demonstration

"i use my non-existent beatboxing skills to take the alpha beatbox controller software through its paces."

via http://www.indiegogo.com/beatjazzsystem:

My name is Onyx Ashanti. I am an artist/invetor living in Berlin. I have spent the last few years working on a new way to combine improvisation, dance and sound design and i call it Beatjazz. I did my first crowdfunding campaign back in january to, as we put it, "Create the most amazing live music performance system, ever!". And with that campaign, the beatjazz controller was born and it has gone caused a bit of a buzz by way of a fortuitous TED talk presentation and an upcoming feature in MAKE magazine to present it to the world as an open source project.

The project excited the imaginations of thousands of people who shared this vision of "A" future of electronic music. and along the way much was learned! for instance, I only discovered after the controller was built, that the system was so ammenable to performance from the dance floor, within the crowd! further, i have discovered that when a performer has the narrative capacity of their body to make use of, it changes the conveyed message instantly and profoundly.

So, armed with this newfound knowledge from having played the prototype controller for the past 5 months, I feel it is time to build the system properly and fully.

I present the Beatjazz performance system.

A complete live performance architecture designed to enable completely immersive live electronic performance. it represents the intersection of hardware, software and concept."

The Tiny Beatereater 2 - Raw Demo

YouTube Uploaded by elohess2 on Mar 17, 2012

"News from the Beateater. Today I've tried to make some optimizsation of my first publish schematics. I added a "signal flatener" to the output of the amp and I added a passive lowpassfilter before the circuit. Now the beateater has a much better response to bass signals like bassdrum and other bassy instruments.

In this demo we see the raw mode. The ATTINY after the amplifier listen only to the flaten output signal and when a high water mark is reached the LED signal rises. In the next step, the alogrithm must be optimized. But this part every DIYer can implement his own ideas. I'll do a "don't response to base for defined time to supress ghost notes" next.

Working with the ATTINY (here a 85) is fine. It's cheap and the programming with an Arduino IDE is possible."

Tiny Beateater 2 - A longer demonstration of the new "Tiny Beateater 2" circuit

"I finshed the project "Tiny Beateater 2" today. The video shows in the beginning some sound sample in which the Beateater triggers my famous "Raidio Lala". And then I start a walk through to the features to show how it works. Also the limits are described. The schematics and the software I'll publish during the next week. So come back and look here for a link. When it is published, I'll post the link here."

"This auction is for 2 vintage original EMS modules. Very rare units sold as accessoires to the Synthi AKS and VCS3 synthesizers but can be used with other (modular) synths and studio environments. Creative tools derived from the infamous Synthi 100 studio synthesizer. These 2 work well and have been gone over by a pro tech about a year ago. Super. What I like to mention is that the front panels have been filed off a few milimeters at the left and right ends. Probably to make them fit in better a rack. As you can see in the pictures this is not visible when rack mounted. The case is included."

Steiner Masters Touch - Rare Filter, CV Breath Controller

"This auction is for a good condition Steiner Masters Touch. Use it as an interface to control your (modular) synthesizer or use the nice expressive filter for your audio. This is a rare vintage unit. Both tubes however are new and have not been used for hygienic reasons. It has recently been gone over by a pro tech. Works like it should. Put some expression in your music! :-)"

"Syntecno TeeBee black edition. This is a very flexible and versatile unit. First it's a TB-303 clone which it does VERY good (and under Midi control!) but then it also features 4 CV and Gate outputs so you can control all your pre-midi synthesizers. It can be setup to do Volt/octave (Roland, Moog, Arp, Sequential etc) but also Volt/Herz (Korg, Yamaha etc.), it also has several gate modes. Then it also converts midi clock to DinSync so you can synchronise your TR-808, TB-303, MC-202, TR-606 etc etc.."

Vince Clarke 1984 with Fairlight Sampler (Audio)

"Very rare tape recording of Vince using the Fairlight Computer back in 1984.
This is an audio recording that was done for Electronic Soundmaker and Computer Music magazine. I found the original magazine and tape in my loft. I thought you'd like to here it so I've converted it into a digital format. Now go make a cup of tea or get a beer, sit back and enjoy this blast from the past."

4ms Atoner_building the Eurorack module

"4MS Atoner Eurorack module
Construction (from kit) Build video
Haven't seen any videos from 4MS re building their kits.
So why not do one myself. hope this helps others get into building
their modules from the ground up.
Its a great way to learn the basics of Analog Systhesis.

1. Resistors 1st.
2. Resistor arrays then IC sockets, header pins etc.
3. caps, diodes and trimpots. (Careful with orientation)
4. Mount jacks to faceplate,,, then place pots on PCB to orientate with
faceplate. (dont solder to pcb until you have attached the pots firmly to
faceplate). Once you solder its difficult to detach the faceplate from PCB
should you wish to trouble shoot your soldering in the future.
5. make sure you ground the jacks etc to the PCB (I forgot to do this at first.. doh!)
6. Insert ICs into their sockets. ... watch orientation.
7. your done!

Many thanks to Matt from Rhythm Active for supplying the Atoner.
