KORG Releases Polysix for Reason

"Korg USA Announces Polysix for Propellerhead's Rack Extension Plugin Format

MELVILLE, NY, June 21, 2012 - Korg's original Polysix programmable six-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer was introduced in 1981. With a full-sounding voice structure, classic effects and performance functions, the Polysix became a world-wide hit. Its distinctive string and pad sounds are still often heard to this day.

Now Korg announces the Polysix for Reason, a software version developed for Propellerhead's new Rack Extension Plugin format for Reason. In addition to faithfully replicating the original sounds, the Polysix for Reason also adds enhancements such as 32-voice polyphony (max), up to 16-voice unison (with detune/spread function), flexible external modulation settings, MIDI clock synchronization, and a spread function that adjusts the spaciousness of the effects. This new functionality brings the classic Polysix up to date for use in modern music production.

The software interface provides reorganized knobs and switches that resurrect the Polysix in a contemporary "rack-mountable" form for intuitive operation and sound-creating versatility.

Polysix for Reason will be available for download at Propellerhead's web-shop shop.propellerheads.se on June 21st for U.S. $49.00 (additional product information can be found at: www.korg.com/polysixforreason)."

Update: It's worth noting these pics were taken before the opening while things were still being set up. Expect to find more when you visit.

"CONTROL. Brooklyn’s new modular synthesizer boutique and record store.

Driphouse’s Daren Ho and Jonas Asher have just opened New York’s premier synthesizer boutique. If you’re on the east coast you no longer have to wait for modules to arrive from California, just visit CONTROL in Williamsburg.

You can test drive modules there. They have two 9U portable cases in their two listening stations. Modules such as Make Noise, 4MS, Synthesis Technology, Pittsburgh Modular, Malekko/Wiard, Blue Lantern, and more.

In addition to synthesizers they also have a nice selection of Synth-centric LPs and cassettes. Including new releases by Editions Mego, Bureau B, Spectrum Spools and many other forward leaning independent electronic labels.

Control will definitely be a destination whenever I’m in NY.

416 Lorimer St. Brooklyn, New York. 11206."

via For Musicians Only where you'll find additional pics and full details.

"This magnificently monstrous assemblage of analog synth gear is comprised of the Rhodes Chroma, Chroma Expander, and a brand new Chroma Enabler. I have christened the three units collectively as the Chromatropolis. I thought it deserved a much grander name than "Chroma stuff" or "Chroma, etc." I also thought it would be easier to use a single name as way of referring to the three units, rather than having to say "Chroma, Expander, and Enabler" over and over again. As far as I know, I am currently the only one who has all three units."

Modular Moogerfooger Madness

YouTube Published on Jun 20, 2012 by NonDigitalTom

"Having some fun with a whole rack of Moogers. All sounds in this clip are generated and modulated by Moogerfoogers. Not all of them are hooked up for this patch, but the ones that are include the MF-107 FreqBox, MF-101 Low-Pass Filter, MF-102 Ring Modulator, MF-103 12-Stage Phaser, MF-105 MuRF, MF-104SD Super Analog Delay, and CP-251 Control Processor (plus EP-2 Expression Pedal).

There were some very freaky vocal sounds happening here, which made me say "I HAVE to record this." You can hear this sound like, "yiee yiee YIPE YIPE YIPE YIPE YIPE." Really weird (and kind of spooky when you're in a room alone with this stuff. Don't ask me how it was patched, I probably wouldn't be able to get the same sound again if I tried."
