AWESOME SOUND

We started with a PIC microcontroller and 8-bit DAC to create a dual-pitch oscillator with modulation by waveform, amplitude envelope, detuning, and glissando. Then we added a gritty analog low-pass filter, integrated step sequencer, and simple, intuitive controls. Your initial experimentation will quickly reveal an astonishing range of output: from sweet and sublime to raw, thrashing, and retro sounds.

The NTH’s spare hardware DAC channel and electronics prototyping area await your experiments.
We’ve included an ICSP port for connection to the NTH’s PIC16F microcontroller. Use a low-cost USB programmer to modify, upgrade, or completely rewrite the firmware on your NTH.

The NTH Design Source Package includes the design files and source code for every detail of the NTH including electronic hardware, firmware, and enclosure. The package will be available for free download."

That's some Kozy synth love right there.

"The Sq10 is by far the best vintage analogue sequencer made in history, more recently , the SND SAM 16 tried to put the SQ10 functions in their design , but it ended up being to complicated to programm as it's a MIDI sequencer. Only the SQ10 can make those rhythms with different step length and variations and tweaking those big knobs in a very intuitive musical way. Eurorack modular is just too tiny for that."

Specifications:

· 28 HP width, needs +/- 12V power.
· One VCO with square and ramp wavefoms with depth and tune controls, tune control is a ten turn potentiometer which allows you easily set octave, tune and fine tune with just one knob.
· Noise source, it can be set to affect the VCO frequency or it can be mixed with the VCO and audio input.
· One LFO with square and triangle waveforms is can be set to affect the VCO frequency or the Filter cut off, it also features an output jack.

"Couldn't find a tutorial or sheets anywhere so I was forced to do this classic entirely by ear so I hope I got it right. All sounds including the wannabe sax are stock Roland Fantom G sounds that I tweaked.

The original was purportedly recorded using a Prophet 5 and the sound is hard to reproduce on a rompler. The keyboard patch I made was based on a waveform called warm pad."
