Abeem Live Technologies updates Rack Performer to 0.99-beta

"Abeem Live Technologies has updated Rack Performer to version 0.99-beta.

This new version includes several important new features, mostly centered around MIDI and connectivity.

External instruments and effects can be controlled by adding instances of the new 'External MIDI Gear' special module to the patch. This module acts as a bridge between the application and the external gear. It can be mapped and automated like any standard module, and appropriate MIDI messages are automatically sent to the controlled gear.

The new "MIDI output turbo mode" option greatly improves MIDI output events timing and reduces jitter by dedicating one CPU core to the task. This option works especially well when coupled with the "aggressive scheduler timing" advanced option. Both options are enabled by default when available on the host machine.

Incoming MIDI events can be filtered by type at three levels (per MIDI input device, per input channel or per module) and all modules can have MIDI effects applied to their inputs. The simple included effects allow to easily create keyboard splits, layers and merges.

MIDI can be freely routed between modules (interlinks) and plugins operating in pure MIDI mode (ex: VST sequencers) are now supported.

A lot of other improvements are also included.

Yamaha CS-40M Program Stepper Mod

via Akikaze

"Here's an interesting mod I have had installed into my Yamaha CS-40M. It uses the portamento pedal input. A stereo plug is inserted. Portamento input is still available using tip-sleeve and the stepper using ring-sleeve. The program stepper can step backward and forward through its memories, one at the time. Depressing the pedal for one second makes the program step forward; depressing it for about two seconds makes the program step backward. Jumpers are available for selecting a normal open or a normal closed switch (1), for stepping through one of either bank or both banks (2) and for stepping forard or forward and backward (3). Here are some pictures and documentation."

"A walk through of our store front in Austin, TX to allow you (the viewer) to quickly glance at some of our inventory.

This week your hearing some in house recordings of a Yamaha DX200. The DX200 is a "groovebox" type of instrument although it is interesting in that it uses an FM type of synthesis and is easy to program with on the onboard knobs.

"Akai VX 600 37-note Analog matrix synthesizer. It has been compared to a Oberheim Expander due to its Curtis VCA chipset. Otherworldly bleeps & bloops, thunderous growls & other strange noises can be found as well as some really lush strings, hard hitting brass, & thick tasty bass. It's a rare beast & and it does show a little bit of wear (a few scratches, the plastic has faded a little), but everything functions as it should to the best of my knowledge. The 4 pots on the left were designed to be used exclusively with the wind controller. AFAIK only the BEND pot has been found to actually affect certain patches without it, and even then only a little though there may be a setting that can be made to give it more range..."  Anyone confirm?
