"This particular unit has been retrofitted with MIDI in/out/thru. It has mono and stereo outputs and panning pots for each voice. It's an 8 voice synthesizer with 2 vco's per voice: saw, pulse, and triangle. If you're looking for beautifully sounding synthesizer that will spark the creativity in any musician, this is the auction for you.

This unit has been internally refurbished, tested, and approved this year. Considering the work done on this unit, I would price this at $5,000, but it's priced to sell. Despite the few minor cosmetic imperfections as seen in the photos, this will be the closest you will probably find to buying a brand new Oberheim OB8.

The following parts have been replaced with new ones:
-Upper voice board-U12
-Mainboard-lithium battery
-Lower voice pcb-C18
-Upper voice board-R507, 807,819
-Upper/Lower voice pcb
-Lower voice board-Voice 4 Osc. 1, Upper voice pcb-Voice 4 Osc. 2
-Both voice pcbs-U502
-DC on output..."

Bob Moog Foundation Retrospective on Archival & Bob's Lament

Above: "Several months after Bob’s passing, The Bob Moog Foundation (BMF) staff rescued Bob’s priceless archives from its home on pallets in his former vacant workshop space in the country, where it was exposed to heat and humidity. It was Bob’s intention to take care of the archives himself after his retirement. Unfortunately, he passed away prior to his retirement."

The Bob Moog Foundation has posted an article focusing on their work with Bob Moog's archives.  If for some reason you are new to the story, the archives are set to move to Cornell against the BMF's wishes.  See this post for details.  The following was sent out today via the BMF:

"For seven years, the Bob Moog Foundation has dedicated itself to the preservation of Bob Moog's Archives.

We have just posted a retrospective blog celebrating our efforts and tracing our progress.

Through photos taken over the years, see where this one-of-a-kind collection of documents and hardware was stored prior to our rescue and where we are today. Also, take a glimpse at the numerous events and museums where we have exhibited the archives.

Read the full retrospective here.

We'd like to say a special thank you to all of the volunteers who have donated thousands of hours of time to assist the BMF with preserving and protecting Bob Moog's archives. You are an important part of our work, and your efforts will live on through Bob's legacy!

Call to Action

One of our supporters started a petition protesting the transfer of Bob's archives to Cornell University. (If you don't know about this story, please read about it here.)

Please consider joining almost 1,000 people by signing the petition here. Please share this petition with your friends and family and help give the Bob Moog Foundation a voice regarding this disappointing decision.

Thank you all for your continued support of the Bob Moog Foundation--we wouldn't be where we are today without you!

Sonic Sadness: Bob's Lament [embed below]

The removal of Bob Moog's archives from Asheville will affect thousands of people in this area and beyond. Music technology educator, BMF volunteer, journalist for the music technology industry, and most importantly, Bob's long-time friend, Geary Yelton, gives voice to the lament of so many people with his beautifully haunting composition, posted on SoundCloud just a couple of days ago -- Bob's Lament. Listen to this haunting piece here."

Emulator EMU EIII Black Rack Mount Digital Sampler with Analog Filters

"This is the EIII Rack, not the XP or the XS model... Very few of these units were made and they are very hard to find. This EIII rack is the 8meg unit with analog filters and 16 note polyphony. Also has the 100meg internal hard drive with 77meg free (see pics)..

Sample ANYTHING and it sounds rich and creamy. The filters and converters on this model are warm and amazing for drums. Arguably, the EIII is one of the greatest sounding samplers ever made. Used by Depeche Mode, Genesis and many, many more...

Specs:
8 MB sample RAM
Latest OS 2.42 1993 on floppy disk
100MB Internal Hard Drive
Low Pass Analog Filters
16-bit Digital Sampler/Stereo16 voices
33k, 44.1kHz sample rate
4U rack version
16 channel Sequencer
SMPTE
Unit condition- for it's age, this 25 year old sampler is in good condition. Some rack rash around the ears and top. One voice gone bad and a 2nd is developing a bit of hiss (both slight distortion... disabled in the setup). If you know about the EIII's, then you're aware that this is a common problem with the line. It may just be a matter of reseating the voice cards (see pic). This is a delicate piece of gear. So packing & shipping needs to be done very carefully to avoid any damage to the voice cards. I pack and ship FedEx ground... Sorry, only USA for now."

Doepfer A-102 Diode Low Pass (VCF9) EMS Filter Module For Eurorack

analoglsd (RSS)

"Module A-102 is a reproduction of the legendary low pass filter design that uses diodes in the filter stage as frequency controlling elements resulting in "strange" resonance behaviour and frequency response as resonance and frequency are not independent from another.

As for the rest the A-102 is identical to the A-120 Moog low pass filter resp. the A-103 (18dB TB303 Filter). I.e. the same controls, inputs and outputs. Only the filter sound is different:

manual control of filter frequency
3 CV inputs (CV1, CV2, CV3), 2 of them with attenuator (CV2, CV3)
input level control
resonance control up to self oscillation (depends upon the frequency setting for the A-102)"
