Featured Listings for November 2013

This post hosts all Featured listings that drop off the top of the site for the month. You'll find a link to previous months below. Many of these listings will obviously end in time and some will get re-listed (always check the listing). They will remain here as a record of what went up over time. You can click on them to see what items went for as long as they remain on eBay. You'll find a link to prior months below. This list only hosts some of the more interesting and unique items that have gone up over time, so be sure to check out the Auctions label for everything else. You can of course search for any synth with "auction" in the search box on the top left of the site. If you click through the auction links you can see what items went for. You can also search by serial numbers to track the history of specific synths.

Kurt James Werner modified Music From Outer Space Noise Toaster

Published on Oct 31, 2013 Kurt Werner·3 videos

"My modified version of the Music From Outer Space (MFOS) Noise Toaster. I changed the Noise Toaster's semi-fixed architecture to a patchable / modular one, allowing one to reroute signals at will w/ banana cables. Here's a little demo of the kind of sounds you can make with it. The front panel is laser-cut birch laminated onto a cigar box.

I'll be posting a write-up on how to build this @ ccrma.stanford.edu/~kwerner."

Update via Kurt in the comments: "Thanks for posting my work! :) The write-up is up, at https://ccrma.stanford.edu/~kwerner/MFOSmod.html."

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween everyone! As always, I wish you all a very spooky synth filled evening.  This year, my Halloween treat is an Arturia Minbrute!  I literally just opened it up to take these pics.  Click them for the full size wallpaper glory.  Note the MATRIXSYNTH M!  My wife did that as a surprise this year.  My daughter made the pumpkin cat and I went with the classic pumpkin on the left.  Remember to check out the Halloween channel for everything that's gone up so far.  We had a great turn out this year!  And don't forget, Halloween isn't over yet, we still have Dia Di Los Muertos!!!

"I used only the modular system Moog III: five boxes of modules, with 4 sequencers, two keyboards, and a Ribbon Controller. I had [...] other instruments, their sound did not match the quality we were looking for. I had written the #Moog Modular Systems Handbook for Bob Moog, and without reservation preferred the quality of this famous instrument to any other."

"Until the late 1960s, the soundtrack to evil ran to two extremes: orchestral menace and #theremin eeriness. Then came Wendy Carlos and A Clockwork Orange."
