"This rack-mounted MIDI synth module is not only capable of advanced FM (Frequency Modulation) and formant synthesis, but can also load classic patches from the famed Yamaha DX7 and other Yamaha 6-operator FM synths, while eliminating the noise to which some were prone."

Yamaha REFACE DX VS DX7

Published on Jul 22, 2015 muzykujkropkacom

Note the reface DX is a 4 Op FM synth like the Yamaha DX-100 and TX-817 while the DX7 is a more powerful 6 Op FM synth. The FS1R rack steps it up to 8 Op and adds Formant synthesis. If you are not familiar with operators, think of them as oscillators that can be arrange in different patterns of feedback to each other for frequency modulation, the FM in FM synthesis. The different patterns are referred to as algorithms in Yamaha speak. For a general history and explanation of FM start with this article on Wikipedia.

4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator Beat Sync Jam

Published on Jul 28, 2015 4mspedals

"Here we're using just an iPod and mp3 file to control the entire modular system. The drums sounds are all from modules being triggered by the Spectral, and the bassline is part of the mp3 file.

A cable sends audio directly to the SMR from the iPod, where it's split into bands. Triggers are derived from each individual audio frequency band, which are then sent to drum modules to create an entire set based around the structure of one audio file!

You can drastically and dynamically remix tracks this way. Using as much or as little of the original sound as desired, you can cut and filter precise sections of the sound, all the while using the CV equivalent of each band to control and beat sync your modular system!"

KMFDM Sascha's Roland SH-101 Synthesizer for Sale?

"Here we have, direct from Germany, a true piece of rock and roll history. It is KMFDM's personal iconic Roland SH-101 monophonic synthesizer owned and played and featured on every KMFDM album since 1984! This synth is in immaculate condition and all functions 100% perfectly. Sounds awesome and barely has a scratch on it. It comes with SIGNED COA from Sascha of KMFDM, as well as original VCO mod grip, manual, and power supply. This is a truly epic piece of music history. I bought it directly from Sascha with the intention of keeping it for another 30 years, but I have a project that I need to fund, sadly. My loss is your gain. Here is your chance to own this museum-quality instrument that can be heard on every single KMFDM record dating back 31 years! Shipping to lower 48 United States, ONLY. Thank you. Bid hard and good luck!"

1. Jupiter Clone Demo
"Small audio demo from my jupiter clone project.

Latest additions are JP8's cross modulation section and locig for the preset buttons and display driver. There is no patch memory yet but logic for controlling patches and showing patch numbers on LCD's work.

Arpeggiator melodies are from Roland SH01 Gaias arpeggiator where I made arpeggiator patterns similar to JP8's arpeggiator."

2. Jupiter Clone Demo - Work Still In Progress.
"Small demo to show basic parts that are ready and how those work together.

Volume gets pretty high at the middle part of this demo while playing with PWM modulation stuff.

End parts song snippets :
Europe - Final Countdown
Van Halen - Jump

3.DIY Jupiter Clone - Broken Date
"Jupiter Clones casing is now done and first boards are fitted in.
In this video three voices from total of four are in use. I still need to build last two oscillator cards to get 4 voice polyphony. Filter and VCA for the last two cards is ready but needs tuning.

DR-202 is sequencing midi notes to Midi to CV converter which controls voices polyphonicly. Additional 808 beats and bassline are audioloops that I added in video editor."

4. Jupiter 8 VCO clone
"Short video from my latest DIY build.
This video shows two DIY JP VCO voice cards build on veroboard. Each containing one VCO with saw, square and pulse witdh modulation. Together these two vco cards make one voice. SH101 sends CV to voice cards and GATE trigger to DIY VCADSR circuit.

These is a small error on the info text in the video. Originals NF510 fet is replaced with 2N3819, not with 2N3918 as mentioned in the video."
