Oberheim OB-X, 8-voice with Encore MIDI on MATRIXSYNTH CLASSIFIEDS

via MATRIXSYNTH CLASSIFIEDS

"Up for sale is an 8-voice OB-X in great condition. It was totally serviced/overhauled in last year--new caps, pre-emptive PSU fixes added (this is usually the weak spot on the OB-X and has been addressed), new multi-turn trimmers for oscillators, tuned, Encore midi kit professionally installed. Keyboard was recently rebushed (some key contacts can double trigger, but improve rapidly with use). Synth works great an is ready to go!

Cosmetically it is in very good shape. There are some small surficial scrapes here and there on the top panel, and the underside doesn't look great, but that's it. Both the side panels are clean. AND, the buyer will get an extra OBX chassis carcass to use for spares (includes all panel hardware, no internal hardware); worth quite a lot on its own!

Looking primarily to sell, but am interested in a vintage SEM(s) or an OB-8 w/ page 2 graphics.

Loc: Washington, DC"

Sylvan Esso | H.S.K.T. | MOOG SOUND LAB

Published on Sep 23, 2015 Moog Music Inc

"Sylvan Esso return to the Moog Sound Lab to re-imagine 'H.S.K.T' from their self-titled 2014 release. Using Ableton Live to route MIDI messages to an array of analog synthesizers, Nick Sanborn controls his Minitaur for basslines as well as a tower of Minimoog Voyager Rack Mount Editions to produce H.S.K.T.'s percussive track. Ableton's master MIDI clock locks the arpeggiator tempo of a Moog Sub 37, which all ran through an MF-104M Analog Delay. Vocalist Amelia Meath played a Werkstatt running through the Minifooger Delay, and sang through another MF-104M Analog Delay. Nick then sequenced the whole thing with his Akai APC40. The only prerecorded sound was a loop of of Amelia singing "wanna get" from the original track.

Sonic Boom talks about Patchblocks

Published on Sep 23, 2015 Patchblocks

"The awesome Pete Kember (Spacemen 3 / E.A.R. / Sonic Boom) was up for a nice interview and demo session with Patchblocks. Special thanks to Peter and Gus for this cool piece of footage ;-)"

Side note: I remember when Sonic Boom was selling his Synton Syrinx and Delia Derbyshire's EMS VSC3. I was so tempted to pick them up at the time, but I couldn't afford either. They've gone up in price considerably since then.

"Own a piece of Oberheim history. It was the first programmable mono-synth [was it?] and is an example of Oberheim's high quality standards. This OB-1 sounds gorgeous and is a joy to play and program.

All functions are working except the pitch-up (lever down), which is probably an easy fix. The lever-up direction works. The oscillators and filter have been recently calibrated. All memory buttons are working. I even tested the CV in/out, gate in/out, loudness, VCF pedal and audio-in jacks at the back and they are all working. The fuse holder and base plate have been replaced."

CMS Upgraded ARP 2600 with 3620 keyboard

"This is a very special unit. The keyboard has been rebuilt with all new bushings and feels and plays great. The main unit has been rebuilt and upgraded by Phil Cirocco of CMS and boasts a new robust power supply and a custom built new 4012-style Ladder filter. This filter mimics the original 4012, but is more stable and sounds more musical to my ear. All drifted components have been replaced. This unit also features CMS' Audio Path Upgrade which dramatically increases the fidelity of the unit. The lows are low, the highs are high and the noise is virtually non-existent. You can actually use the spring reverb when recording. It was calibrated in 2013, has not been moved and stays in my smoke-free personal studio. There is virtually NO warm-up time. Turn it on and play! Everything about this unit works great. This unit comes with a new power cord, plenty of patch cables, a reprint of the owner's manual, and a reprint of the ARP 2600 Patch book.."
