On the circuit board:

"(c) Mike Brown 2006 - Livewire Electronics"

Hard to believe it's been ten years. Mike Brown passed away in 2012. He was one of the good guys, absolutely the best.

"based on an original design by the (in)famous harry bissell, jr., this module contains two quite unique lag (or slew) generators... while this module does normal glide/portamento type effects nicely, what makes it unique is the fact that you have separate control over the rise time, fall time and shape of the curve... very useful and fun to play with.

specifications:
inputs: 2x signal input

outputs: 2x signal output

controls: both slews offer controls for rise time, fall time and shape (continual adjustment from linear to exponential).

space usage: 10 HP

current consumption: 45ma

ships with doepfer-style power connector."

R.A. Moog 701 Drum Synthesizer - Part 5 - Drum Sounds...!

Published on Oct 13, 2015 noddyspuncture

"OK, so here it is - the first one. Is this the kind of thing that Bob had in mind when he sat down and designed these modules? To do this I first needed to hook up some "noise" - which I did via the Minimoog. White & Pink are what I'm using here... but really, instead of 'White' I actually need 'Red' - or so it tells me on the front panel. 'Red' will have to wait as I need to now build some dedicated noise modules. But anyway, here is my very first attempt at getting percussive sounds out of it... and it does take a bit of getting used to setting it up to get these 'tight' type of sounds...!"

R.A. Moog 701 Drum Synthesizer - Part 6 - Drum Sounds...!

"And here it is - the second one. Again I am using 'White' & 'Pink' noise via the Minimoog. Sure does give you a sore finger... next I shall have to try hooking it up the the 1130 drum controller or even triggering it via the Q960 analog sequencer...! What I've noticed about this, and I quite like, is that there seems to be a 'pedalled hi-hat' sound following each hit on certain envelope settings and also sometimes it 'multiple triggers' giving a slight ratcheting effect...;)"

Midi Drum Sticks with Waldorf Blofeld

Published on May 26, 2014

Some high frequencies at 1:22 and 2:47 on in this one. Be careful with volume levels.

"Vic Firth drum sticks augmented with accelerometers. Movement of the sticks is translated to a midi stream via an Arduino Uno board. When an impact is detected a midi note is generated. Axial rotation of the drumstick does a pitch bend and the slope of the sticks controls aftertouch. All midi is processed by the Waldor Blofeld into weirdly sounding synth scapes :-)"

"In Bologna Italy, there is a store called Scolopendra. It is full of incredible synths and other instruments.
Circuit paid a quick visit on the last leg of it's Italian tour and fell in love with the place. It felt very comfortable sitting atop a Mellotron.... possibly the world's first ever groovebox???? (ooops have I opened a can of worms there?)

If you're interested the track is a -CALC- track called "Wheeee!" you can listen to the full thing here:

"For sale is extremely rare soviet vintage analog guitar micro synthesizer "LIDER-2". It is a original guitar effects processor produced in 1980`s by Katchkanar radio equipment factory "Formanta", famous for its well-known synthesizers Polivoks, Manual, Maestro etc. Was designed to be applied by musicians who use external effects in the live performance or studio work. Can be easely used not only with guitars but with synths, organs, bass e.t.c. It is a floor-mounted unit with five rubber footswitches; it also has sliders and knobs for changing the parameters of effects. Can process sounds in different ways and mix signal inside the synthesizer. LIDER-2 has 5 main series sections: tonecorrector, flanger, chorus, solo, rhythm. - everyone with its own parameters and indicators. Commutation are standard 1\4TRS "Jacks": line input, output (line, phone, amplifier). On the outer surface of the bottom panel, an input sensitivity regulator is situated.

The unit is very original & beyond competition not only during 1980s but even now by its idea, quality and of course SOUND which is amazing! A very deep, warm analog set of effects which can be combined in any way producing a diverse palette of "out-of-this-planet" sounds!

No matter you are doing indie or core, no matter you are playing guitar or synthesizer... This "monster" will turn you mind upside down!

The mains power of the unit is 220 volts. For 110/127v countries I`ll include voltage converter.

Lider-2 is EXTREMELY RARE & is hard to find by all means even in former USSR countries.

It is fully tested & is in ideal 100% working condition."

"Up for sale is a rare soviet analog Wah-wah\Fuzz\Tremolo effects pedal - "POLTAVA".This unit was made in 1977 in the USSR. Pedal produces warm vintage Wah, Fuzz and Tremolo effects that can`t be reproduced by modern digital effect units. Tremolo sounds really fat and fuzz is crazy. Very suitable as signal processor for guitars, synths, loops or for any type interesting sonic experiments. All effects can be used simultaneously or in any combination.

CONTROLS: Separate ON/OFF switches for fuzz and wah and tremolo. Knobs for volume and tone for the fuzz. Knob controls for rate and speed of tremolo. Power ON/OFF switch.

Input & output sockets are common 1/4TRS "Jacks". It can be powered by standard 9 volt power adapter or two bar batteries (not included).

The pedal is after full proffessional service and in 100% working condition.
Like most East-European analog gear this device produces different sound from well-known guitar pedal brands. The pedal looks great and sounds awesome!"

"So I just stacked a bunch of studio fragments from the last month or two onto soundcloud, all source Creature+Quad, one that had interested me was this - almost gets into the space of a woodwind section, simple hard sync does wonders"

This one in via Soviet Space Child.

"Kind of amazing how this is just two simple M-Modules."
