Dave Smith Instruments Poly Evolver Keyboard: Digital Pad I

Dave Smith Instruments Poly Evover Keyboard: Digital Pad II

"Another all-Evolver improvisation. This is a free, meandering theme-less piece meant primarily to demonstrate a sound - a classic Evolver-esque ice cold pad with lots of sparkling digital aliasing. The high pass filter is used at the beginning and several times during the piece to give the music a distant effect. Towards the end (9:35), a bright forte patch in the bass enters, which, as usual, consists of the Evolver Desktop controlled by the Hammond XPK 200L pedalboard. The Lexicon drenches the music with reverb throughout.

Instrumentation:
DSI Poly Evolver Keyboard
DSI Poly Evolver Rack
DSI Evolver Desktop
Hammond XPK 200L

Effects:
Lexicon MX300

Performed live and recorded directly to CD

Moog Sonic Six Pro Restored

" For your consideration this Moog Sonic Six. It just got back from Syntaur here in Texas and is both looking and sounding fantastic. The synth is in great cosmetic condition. I have photo documented the following blemishes with photo's above. The two sliders to the left of the keyboard are non-original. On the leftmost slider of that pair there is a slight dent in the metal housing along the slider opening. Three knobs are scuffed. All of the knobs are original. The case has very few scratches but the hardware is showing signs of rust. The rust is on the surface and is not effecting their strength or functionality.

There is plenty of info on this synth on the web but here are my thoughts on what I like about it.
The Sonic Six's strongest attribute is its unique layout. Its unlike any synth I know of and encourages experimentation. There are pairs of audio and modulation sources that can be blended creating unique waveforms out of the triangle, saw, and pulse waves available. These can be used as audio sources and CV sources. The amp section can be triggered by these complex waves making for some interesting rhythm patterns. There are two noise sources, a ring modulator, and audio in. Its great having the synth integrated in the carrying case (one of the reasons I think its in such good shape) I didn't think I'd be interested in the speaker but I found myself using it multiple times when I wanted to play somewhere other than my studio.

Here's a list of the work recently performed
*recapped power supply
*cleaned all pots
*cleaned all switches
*rebuilt power switch
*cleaned and repaired all knobs
*replaced Osc A "Quality" pot
* installed new speaker
*tuned and calibrated"
