kawai k1 (K1r, K1m) Synthesizer Programming. Vintage Synth programming.

video upload by Scifi Funk

"KAWAI K1, K1r, K1m. A discussion on the features, programming, and sounds. Vintage Synth Review. https://hyperfollow.com/scififunk/

I present a Step-by-step programming guide using the front panel only (no software required), from basic waveforms.

Once you are familiar with programming basic waveforms it will be easier to understand what can be achieved with the 'preset samples' or more complex waveforms.

00:00 KAWAI K1r Ahh sound.
00:18 Introduction. The K1 is essentially a 'preset sampler' that you can program via additive synthesis/voice stacking.
01:28 How to make synth sounds via traditional synth programming methods.
02:24 A good starting point for programming.
03:19 The waveforms for programming /stacking.
05:30 Programming performance parameters.
07:39 Actual programming and discussion.
You really need to watch the whole video to understand."

Kawai k1 (K1r, K1m) Synthesizer Programming (part 2 of 2). Vintage Synth programming.

"I continue my Step-by-step programming guide using the front panel only (no software required), from basic waveforms.

Once you are familiar with programming basic waveforms it will be easier to understand what can be achieved with the 'Preset samples' or more complex waveforms.

00:00 Sawtooth waveform, sinewave (hear the artefacts sadly vs an analogue synth)
00:57 Square waves, plus inverse saw, triangle and random
01:34 Examples of samples of real-life instruments.
02:09 Filter sweep example (using crossfading).
05:40 Using all 4 waveforms for colouring the sound.
You really need to watch the whole video to understand.

I personally bought the Kawai K1m when it was first released (1988 I think), then I traded it in for a K1r (losing a lot on the deal). Of course, the K1r doesn’t have the joystick that mixes the sound, so that’s a shame."

PV44 playing chords on the Acid Rain Technology Chainsaw (patched sequencer out of logic modules)

video upload by XODES

"After discussing how to use PV44 to create chords lately, it felt like showing it actually can be done may be more efficient than long messages.

It all started with some cheesy Wham Christmas song programmed on a Beatstep Pro for which PV44 made chords out of a monophonic CV signal.

Instead, and even if it may not make much sense to most, it looked more interesting to demonstrate a sequencer patched from scratch on the same occasion!

In this short example a sequencer is patched from existing and forthcoming logic/switch based modules that create control signals for PV44 and triggers for the drums sounds.

A single clock passes through a shift register and trigger skippers to create multiple trigger sequences.

A switch alternates between 2 voltages and goes to the PV44 modulation input. The A/B/C outputs control the Acid Rain Technology chainsaw's 3 CV inputs through some quantizer to play different chords."

S-4 Explorations: Midi controlled sampler

video upload by torso electronics

"Hook up a MIDI keyboard or sequencer and use S-4 as a powerful polyphonic textural synthesizer and sample player. Transform your sound into glittering textures or broken soundscapes through granular processing, morphing resonator, destructive effects, reverb, and delays.

Moreover, the S-4 is a versatile powerhouse capable of serving as a real-time effect processor, transformative sound designer, or live looper."

Hello Strega - 3 jams - no talk

video upload by Stazma

"My first day with Strega in a few jams. Just a few jam with different state of minds.
I think the Casio and this thing are going to be a great couple."

"Finally I finished repairs on this organ, and it's fully functional. So to test it out, I recorded this classic piece, which originally was also performed on this instrument.
I played the melody in the way that's closer to the live version from 'Concerts in China' than the album one. Hope you enjoy it :)"
