An approximation to the album version with some variations. It is not easy to recreate the original atmosphere without sampling.

DX5 Playing Depeche Mode "My Secret Garden - Live Hammersmith version"

Published on Feb 27, 2020 DX5

"'My Secret Garden live at Hammersmith Odeon' cover. I also played the intro (Oberkorn) just like they did back in 1982. No sound was sampled from the original recording.

Gear used:
Roland MRS-2 Promars
Roland JP8000
Kurzweil PC1x (also triggering Arturia Jupiter 8V).
Emu Emax II.

I used three pedals: sustain for the Roland JP8000, Volume for the Kurzweil internal sound and a momentary switch for preset change in the Emax II.
I also used the RPS (realtime phrase sequencer) in the JP8000 (Sequence at Oberkorn's end).

Backtrack previously sequenced and recorded in Pro Tools.
* There is a momentary digital noise at 00:32. It should happen at the time of rendering the video.

"Oberkorn" and 'My Secret Garden' composed by Martin L.Gore.
Performed here by DX5 Jose Maria Bara."

DX5 playing Depeche Mode "The Landscape is Changing" cover (2021 version)

video upload by DX5

"Updating a cover I had already recorded ten years ago. I added slight corrections, also a few variations (a bit of lag on the intro brass, wrong notes intentionally played at 00:16, 01:19 and 04:17, etc) acting as watermarks.

Gear used (left to right, top to bottom):
Yamaha DX7 (portamento bell sound).
Roland JP8000 (arpeggiator synced to Pro Tools)
Kurzweil PC1x
Emu Emax II
Emu Emax I

Sound design and backtrack previously programmed, synthesized and recorded by me on Pro Tools, using my own resources, in 2011 [posted here]. Original track composed by Alan Wilder.

Performed here by DX5 Jose Maria Bara."

DX5 playing Depeche Mode "Any Second Now" (Instrumental)

Published on Feb 28, 2017 DX5

"Backtrack recorded on Pro Tools. Most of the sounds are from the Roland Promars, including the first noise snare (the original song was recorded at the time Vince Clarke used his Jupiter 4 with same filter and VCO as the one in the Promars).

Keyboards:
Upper: Roland Promars MRS-2
Mid: Roland JP-8000

Backtrack played on a Revox B77 MkII with BASF tape.
Original track composed by Vince Clarke.
Performed here by DX5 Jose Maria Bara
* There is a "flutter" effect, noticeable at the beginning, due to Revox mechanical limitations (I tried to dump the backtrack on two different units with the same results)"

Upper: Emu EMAX II HD (with Roland D10 , Kurzweil PC1x and my own voice samples)
Mid: Emu Emax I (Library and JX8P sampled sounds)

DX5 playing Depeche Mode "Christmas Island"

YouTube via DX5

"Christmas Island played with an Emu Emax only (With new EL foil light on the display).
Emax sequencer is a realtime recording (non quantized) one, then the bass sequence (and therefore my realtime bassdrum and snare playing) can be out of sync sometimes.

Two sounds are samples from the original track, the others were created by myself or taken from some of my libraries.

BTW; I forgot the clothes I use for covering my keyboards against dust on the sofa.

Originally Composed by Martin Gore and Alan Wilder."

DX5 playing Depeche Mode "The Sun and the Rainfall"

YouTube via DX5 | October 05, 2010

"A track I like a lot.

Gear:
Upper: Roland JX8P (first noise sound is the infamous JX plane preset :)
Mid: KORG DW8000
Lower: Emu EMAX II HD

Also used: Simmons SDS 8 for drums.
Backtrack recorded in Pro Tools.
*Note: there is a short "jump" at second 7. It seems to be a problem when capturing the video into the computer or rendering to the final format.

Composed by Martin L Gore."
