via Doug Lynner on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge: "Here is the first piece from my solo concert last Friday with Mike Dietrich doing visuals. It features the Mystery Serge going through it's paces with massive amounts of pulse division and sample and hold magic. Most people there had never heard such a thing before and the response was very good. This was great fun and a grand experiment that I want to do more of. Thanks to The Woodshed at Keith Holland's Guitars in Los Gatos CA for stretching to include electronic music and visuals at their new venue! We have a toe hold"

The Koinonia Festival is a unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of unusual music. Published on Aug 11, 2014 Doug Lynner

"Improvised electronic music and Beat Poetry with Hollow Log by Doug Lynner, ruth weiss and Hal Davis. 7/30/14 on the Poetry Freqs night of the 13th Annual Outsound New Music Summit. Doug performs on Serge and Cynthia modular synthesizers. A solo synth sections happens about 2/3rds of the way through. Enjoy ruth, she is one of the only remaining links to the Beat days and is the real deal!

via Doug Lynner on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge:

"A couple of weeks ago I was talking up this unusual concert I was going to be doing with surviving Beat Poet, Rruth weiss, and her partner Hal Davis on Hollow Log. We came to this fresh having only met for a 1/2 hour some months before to see if we were interested in performing together. We had no rehearsal. I didn't know what poems would be performed until an hour before stage time. I think it came out so very well. What do you think about this first time meeting of Beat Poetry and analog modular electronic music (Serge and Cynthia systems)?"

Doug Lynner Live - μHausen 2015 - Becoming Zen About It

Published on Aug 24, 2015 Doug Lynner

"Electronic music composer/performer Doug Lynner plays 'Becoming Zen About It' at the 2015 μHausen Festival in Boulder Creek, CA on 8/16/15. The music plays off of the 100 degree temps and seeks to lead to a "cooling down" as the sounds morph through sizzle, fire and insects to a rich, undulating, soothing drone.

The patch used for 'Becoming Zen About It' is based upon the Patch of The Week "The Anatomy of a Drone at https://youtu.be/B2xr9Z36lrM .

Berkeley Arabesque by Doug Lynner aka Synthesizerman 1/29/14

Published on Feb 1, 2014 Doug Lynner·12 videos

"A live performance by Doug Lynner aka Synthesizerman at Tom's Place, Berkeley CA, 1/29/14 on Serge and Cynthia modular synthesizers."

via Doug on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

Update: some additional details via Doug: "This particular piece is all on the Serge. You can see the system at http://www.serge.synth.net/gallery/dl/index.html. The piece is based on a very high speed 24 stage sequence of a two octave chromatic scale. It is never actually heard in the piece but is manipulated throughout. Its voltage outputs are sampled by a classic Serge Analog Shift Register that is controlling three VCOs. Various modules control clocking, gating and wave shaping of various output paths from the VCOs. The wave shaping happens both on the VCOs and also using the Serge Triple Waveshaper. This patch was on the machine along with patches for two other pieces that I performed."

Doug Lynner at The Woodshed South Bay - Potential New Synth Venue

Doug Lynner will be performing at The Woodshed in the South Bay, San Jose area with the modular systems pictured.  Mike Dietrich will be covering visuals.  If there's a good enough turn out, the location could be open to future synth performances.  If you are in the area, do your best to show up.  Not only will you get to see some modular gear live with a light show, but you'll be helping the cause.

via Doug on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge:

"I have a very special synth concert coming up on Aug 16th in Los Gatos at The Woodshed. My performance on modular synthesizers, keyboard and guitar will be accompanied by visual artist Mike Dietrich using creative lighting with multidimensional projection mapping and computer-generated images. It is going to be amazing!

This show is also important because there aren't great venues for electronic and experimental music down in the South Bay (San Jose area) and if we can get a decent audience to this night we can open one up for future synthesizer performances.

So, if you are in the area, please join me for sights and sounds! http://www.woodshed.org/ai1ec_event/doug-lynner-synthesizer-man/"

Doug Lynner & Elby Designs Classic Mystery Serge in Eurorack

via Doug Lynner on Modular Grid:

"Here is the first glimpse at one of ten EuroSerge system configurations that I have created for Elby Designs. Their new EuroSerge is a full, classic Serge Analog Modular Synthesizer, including the entire catalog of first generation Serge modules in a truly modular format, reimagined for the 3u format. This configuration is based on my Mystery Serge, the first 'commercial' Serge. The configuration will give new adapters a well used system from which to explore their own configurations. Following I will be publishing systems of all sizes for a wide range of users. It has been my pleasure to work together on this with Serge Tcherepnin, and Laurie Biddulph and I hope that you enjoy this new opportunity to include official Serge designs in your 3u system.
