video upload by percussionologist

Update:

SN 0152 via this listing

"Legendary and very rare 1970s Eko Ekosynth - analog Italian Monosynth.

Working but needs some attention. See attached video for full demonstration of current working condition.

Some keys sticking, drone in the background of the sound.

Capable of extremely far out sounds with the audio rate LFO assignable to multiple functions.

Synth was working perfectly up until about 3months ago (apart from the sticking keys) and has just developed the issues."

V.A.I. 65 : CRB Computerband 2000 / EKOSynth

video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"Another demonstration of the marvellous CRB Computerband 2000 - an auto-accompaniment machine with 4 sections made by organ manufacturer CRB in the Marche region of Italy.
This time we paired it with the EkoSynth, a quite rare monophonic preset synth from the mid 1970s made by Italian guitar and amp manufacturer EKO. This is a unique sounding synth compared to many other Italian monophonics of the era, the filter is special, really not bad, so you can get a lot of different sounds out of this machine."

A quickie with the Gerd Schulte Compact Phasing

video by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"We had this hooked up and made a quick spontaneous video.
It's not always easy to dial in the sound you're looking for - if that's your thing - but you can sure get a lot of different sounds out of this pedal.
The machine generating bass and chords is a special little animal, more videos of that to come."

"THIS IS AN ITALIAN EKO SYNTH - CIRCA 1979. IT IS A VERY RARE PRE-SET SYNTH.
It is in full working order there is a little crackle to one or two of the pots, not all that noticeable and easily sorted with some contact cleaner.
Some tremendous sounds are to be had from this machine, huge fat basses, big whomping sounds, nice leads. The presets sound nothing like the I streets they are supposed to represent, who wants it to sound like a pan pipe anyway!
The P15 is monophonic and totally analog. Although it says "Digital System" on the front panel, this only refers to the underlying circuitry inside using some (at the time) modern integrated circuit chip technologies in place of traditional transistor based technology for a more stable result. The signal path is still entirely analog from start to finish, and the result is very warm sounding."

EKO Ekosynth P15 Italian Analogue Synthesizer

via this auction - video at the auction and previously posted here.

"This is a great synth and has been used by many respectable electronic musicians. It can recreate Moog and 'Look Around You' tunes very nicely. It has adjustable 24dB resonant filter, VCA and LFO sections. You can use them to achieve a very interesting and unique sonic pallete. Another great thing about this synth is it is built into it's own carry case (lid included) So it is portable and not (too) heavy should you wish to gig with it."

Vintage analogue synthesizer Eko Ekosynth P15 "Digital System"

YouTube via booksforsaleATebid | August 07, 2009 |

"I think this synthesizer was manufactured in 1979.

Although described by the manufacturer as a "digital system", it is an analogue synthesizer. The 'digital' refers to the type of circuitry employed i.e. silicon chips rather than transistors - so I am told.

The audio is to give you an idea of what the synthesizer is capable of, even though it seems to have a number of faults - you can read more about this on ebid.net, ( http://uk.ebid.net/stores/booksforsale ) go there and enter the following search terms: Eko P15

You will of course realise that I am no musician, that is not the purpose of the audio, I just want you to hear what the synth can do. There are no effects, it is totally dry, apart from a little compression.

It reminds me of the early Roland synthesizers in look and sound.

This synthesizer is rare. It will be an excellent project for anyone who likes to get these 'old dears' back to how they were in the land of Kraftwerk, Gary Numan and Ultravox."

"This is an original 1979 suitcase synth made by Eko, better known for organs and guitars. Due to the companys organ background its got a great keyboard feel. It sounds brilliant with really present and deep oscillators that are massively tweakable from all the knobs and sliders, ranging from subbed out to lfo madness., a completely different sound to say Roland synths. Obviously pretty rare, this one is in good condition having just been serviced. This is an excellent and unusual bit of gear.

It says "digital system" on the front panel, but that refers to the fact that most of the circuitry consists of Integrated Circuits rather than indivudual components.
There are 15 preset sounds (Hence, P15). You can play them as they stand, or switch the Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF), and Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA) into "manual" mode, and tweak the sound anyway you want. There is also a full LFO section, capable of affecting the Oscillator, and the Filter. (Wah Wah and Tremolo). The VCO functions can be delayed as well. (as per Roland Juno)!"
