Time and Space by Jay Wires
You can find the release on various platforms on Distrokid here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/jaywires/time-and-space
"‘Time And Space’ is the second single from Jay Wires.
‘Time And Space’ follows the debut Jay Wires single, ‘Candle In The Night’, and continues a story that began there. Filled with frank honesty, longing and unrequited caring, ‘Time And Space’ was written after an argument between Jay Wires and his ex-girlfriend. “We approached arguments differently,” he reflects. “My solution to arguments was always to talk things out as soon as possible in order to move past them, whereas hers was needing to be alone, taking time and space before coming back.” The song was written during one of those periods of post-argument separation.
In spite of its lyrical themes, ‘Time And Space’ highlights Jay Wires’ knack for creating towering, ascendant intricately-detailed electronic pop tracks, full of personal emotion and reference points. “The argument happened in December 2019,” remembers Jay Wires. “That month, we saw a live jazz band perform songs from the ‘Charlie Brown Christmas Special’ soundtrack in a hotel lounge in Williamsburg. For the instrumental break, I created the sound of brushed cymbals to capture the atmosphere of that performance.” ‘Time And Space’ concludes with a powerful, stirring, uplifting synth-orchestral segment, offering a fragile sense of optimism that this was just a temporary parting, not something more permanent.
‘Time And Space’ is the second song to be taken from the debut Jay Wires EP, ‘Kaboom!’.

Breathe by Jay Wires
video upload by Jay Wires
"Breathe is the 4th track off the Kaboom! EP by Jay Wires."
Available on muliple formats here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/jaywires/breathe
"In contrast with the preceding singles from ‘Kaboom!’ [posted here], ‘Breathe’ is positively upbeat. Its lyrics contain a sense of soothing, calming relief after the heartbreak and emotional upheaval elsewhere on the EP, and its sounds and rhythms are nothing short of ascendant and rapturous. It is a hopeful song about rekindling the fires of romance.
The inspiration for the sense of optimism came from a walk that Jay took in an abandoned park in Astoria, Queens. “I was walking through the long, uncut grass during the COVID lockdown,” he remembers. “The climatic break and instrumental section that follows it in 'Breathe' were meant to capture that euphoric feeling of two people getting back together.”
‘Breathe’ provides a transcendent conclusion to ‘Kaboom!’, the debut Jay Wires EP. Two years in the making, the EP contains 4 songs freighted with intense emotion and epic electronic arrangements. These songs are an expression of what Jay calls “electro-pop therapy” and were inspired by a painful break-up during the isolation and loneliness of COVID lockdown."

Candle In The Night by Jay Wires
A new release from supporting member Jay Wires.
Available on various streaming platforms here.
On first listen, ‘Candle In The Night’ seems to present a hopeful, reassuring tone to its lyrics and synth structures. Listen closely and you find Jay Wires vividly documenting the ups and downs of life, the track being subtly divided into individual segments that reflect the changing seasons of a year. Inspired by a weekend trip to the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts in the fall of 2019, the track finds Jay reimagining the full bloom of lush summer scenery; the subtle color shifts and death of the autumn leaves; the treacherous ice and snow of the winter freeze; the melting and rebirth of spring.
This song is never static. Its lyrics rest atop a bedrock of glistening electronic tones and textures that shift gracefully as we move between the seasons, reflecting back the changes in the weather – and in life. "‘Candle In The Night’ is about being there for your partner to help guide them through the dark times we sometimes experience in life,” explains Jay. “It’s about love, dedication and trust.”
Jay Wires bio from Spotify:
"NYC-based synthesist Jay Wires dials up catchy electrosongs infused with emotion - synthpop art with a human heart. By day, Jay works for a well-known vintage synth shop, selling the finest synthesizers ever made to the world's most discerning electronic musicians. Now he's finally releasing music of his own.
“For many years I've systematically tested and played the most incredible gear”, says Jay. “This has given me a great understanding of synthesis, so dialing up unique soundscapes from scratch is 2nd nature to me. This skill's been invaluable to me as an electronic music maker, but the song always comes first."
Jay Wires will begin releasing songs from his debut EP, ‘Kaboom!’, in Aug 2022, through Yes Trigger Music.
Two years in the making, the EP contains 4 songs freighted with intense emotion and epic electronic arrangements. ‘Kaboom!’ is an expression of what Jay calls “electro-pop therapy” and was inspired by a painful break-up during the isolation and loneliness of COVID lockdown. “My songs often come out of sadness or anger or an uneasy feeling,” he reflects. “When I’m happy, I usually don’t feel the need to lock myself away in a dark room to write songs. Sometimes I don’t even understand what I’m feeling, but as the words come out, it all starts to make sense. I try to base the sound of the song not just on the feelings I had at the time, but also the environment. It’s all about painting an actual picture that takes me back to that particular place and time.”

Illusion - Jay Wires
video upload by Jay Wires
New track from supporting member Jay Wires, who previously brought us Meaningless.
"'Illusion' by Jay Wires delivers a heavy dose of melancholic 80's synth tones over a pulsating groove. Synthpop art with a human heart.

"The romantic notion that there is someone out there for everyone sent hundreds of millions of people to online dating apps last year, including Jay Wires. Trapped in a world with seemingly infinite options where temporary relationships are the norm, he decided to set himself apart by putting his profile to music with a brief jingle expressing his intentions, thus giving birth to 'Illusion,' a foray into a desolate, chimerical territory, as he succinctly expresses the loneliness and hopelessness that one feels when searching for their soulmate in a landscape that feels more like a carnival’s House of Mirrors than its Tunnel of Love.
A plaintive query prefaces a punchy electronic beat, and synth layers build as Wires’ cri de coeur - raw and emotional, gives way to a chorus driven by a galloping bassline with the intensity of a racing heartbeat, and distant bells like a death knell stab you to your core, evoking that hollow feeling of loss and want. This is a story of being trapped in the confusion of a shimmering fog, with lyrics full of yearning, calling out for The One that idealism tells us is out there for each of us.
Somewhere in this barren wasteland, Jay finds himself 'losing faith in destiny,' that this person may not even exist. Hope turns to cynicism, and deliciously melancholic hooks and textures fill the atmosphere with disconsolate laments, intensely conveying the exhaustion that Wires feels in this chase, one that seems futile and unending. -Mae de Agua"

Don't Say Goodbye by Jay Wires
video upload by Jay Wires
Some info on the gear used, via Jay Wires:
"I used Patrick Cowley’s Sequential Circuits Pro-One for a few of the sounds. It had remained unused since his death in 1982 until 2022 when Tone Tweakers refurbished it and added MTG Turbo CPU and MIDI (reversible mods). I also used the Roland Juno-60 I got from my friend Vince. The rest of the sounds I dialed up from scratch on basic Logic softsynths, except for the piano, which was a preset."

On the release:
"‘Don’t Say Goodbye’ is the fifth single from Jay Wires.
New York City based synthesist-songwriter Jay Wires dials up catchy electropop infused with human emotion - synthpop art with a human heart. With a long history of dealing vintage synths to serious recording artists, Jay Wires finally started releasing music of his own in August 2022 through Yes Trigger Music.
‘Don’t Say Goodbye’ is a true story about being ghosted by a narcissist during the isolation and loneliness of COVID lockdown, cleverly disguised as an upbeat synthpop ditty that some may find reminiscent of Yazoo or The Postal Service.
‘Don’t Say Goodbye’ was suddenly released on July 7, 2023 without any prior promotion.

Ghost by Jay Wires
New release from supporting member Jay Wires available on multiple platforms via distrokid.
"New York City based synthesist-songwriter Jay Wires dials up catchy electropop infused with human emotion - synthpop art with a human heart.
Victims of ghosting are often left confused and wondering what went wrong. “Ghost,” by Jay Wires, conveys succinctly that hollow ache in an uncomplicated and beautifully poignant way, with a lush immersive sound that embodies that emptiness which consumes you to your very core.
With cleanly layered analog synths evoking desolate war-torn landscapes with background shades of Vangelis-meets-Depeche Mode, this despondent lament intensifies with its elements building into an eerie, enveloping wall of sound, expressing an overwhelming distress as the song’s subject flits away, on to their next victim.
From the initial gasp of breath to the grand finale, this compelling track draws us into a delicious melancholia, perfect for the Halloween season."

Jay Wires Depeche Mode Shout Cover Roland SH-2 Korg Volca Beats SQ1 Vintage Synthesizer Sequencer
video upload by Jay Wires
"Roland SH-2 (modified) sequenced by Korg SQ-1 analog sequencer with Korg Volca Beats on drums. I was just goofing around for a couple minutes and came up with this sequence that reminded me of Depeche Mode "Shout", off their debut album Speak & Spell, which is one of my favorite albums ever. Vince Clarke wrote most of the songs before leaving to form Yaz and then Erasure. The SH-2 here has been modified for oscillator sync. What would normally be the keyboard gate output jack is now a CV input for VCO2 that's activated when the bender switch is in the right position. I used the CV out of the sequencer to control VCO2's pitch for timbral modulation and used the sequencer's gate out to trigger the envelope generator on the SH-2 (via the SH's gate input). As you can see, I transposed the sequence manually by playing the keyboard.
What's your favorite Depeche Mode album? I flip flop between Speak & Spell, Black Celebration and Violator."

Roland TR-909 drum machine techno beat by Jay Wires
video upload by Jay Wires
"Today at work, we took a break from our other restoration to help an old homie repair his messed up Roland TR-909 that a couple other techs couldn’t fix. Here’s a video of the test drive i took to make sure it was ok. You’ll hear a little crackle cause we made a one time exception for a good friend and only did the bare minimum to get it working again and safe for use again, rather than the meticulous refurbs we’re known for at tonetweakers.com. Now who wants to book me for their rave?"

Sunrise ft. Korg PS-3300 by Jay Wires
"This piece is based around an evolving sequence I made on an early Korg PS-3300 synthesizer. I programmed the rest of the sounds from scratch on Apple Logic Pro X soft synths. It's my sonic interpretation of the sunrise. Does it sound like that to you?

Jay Wires testing the Korg ARP 2600m
video upload by Jay Wires
"Tone Tweakers just got a shipment of Korg ARP 2600ms in. We’ve got a couple real vintage ARP 2600s in the studio (and in inventory), but this new clone is pretty cool. It’s not quite the same, but it sounds great regardless. Plus, it’s tiny and super cute. We sold out fast, but this one was purchased for the studio and we won’t have time to use it for a few months, so if anyone wants one here in the US, get in touch via the website. For sale or swap for cool vintage gear. Thanks for reading and listening."

Korg Minilogue analog synth Korg Volca Beats drum machine dead battery total boner killer PROTIPS
video upload by Jay Wires
"I’ve got access to every great synth ever made, but these little korgs are some of my favorites because they’re so much fun to play.
PROTIPS:
1. don’t forget to charge those batteries. As you can see, when your volca drum batteries die midway through your jam, it’s a TBK (total boner killer). Game over.
2. the minilogue takes a shockingly long time to tune up on its own, so hold down shift and press record to manually tune it.
3. It just blew my mind to find out (like 3 years later) that there’s an official Minilogue firmware update that lets you transpose your sequences via the keyboard. Not sure why this wasn’t part of the first version, but I’m looking forward to backing up my patches and updating this OG minilogue and my minilogue xd real soon. Now if only I had more time to play them.
4. Be a pal and stream, like, follow, share and all that other BS. http://www.jaywires.com/"
