5 Jams with Cursus Iteritas wavetable oscillator from Noise Engineering

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Check out these 5 Jams using the Cursus Iteritas dynamically generated wavetable oscillator using orthogonal functions. We hope these jams will inspire you to think of new ways to patch.

0:05 Jam 1
0:48 Jam 2
1:38 Jam 3
2:08 Jam 4
2:51 Jam 5

More info on Cursus Iteritas: https://bit.ly/3jRt38o

Jam 1: We're adjusting the Cursus Iteritas' Fold and Structure controls while sending the signal out through the Electus Versio. The BIA with the kick.

Jam 2: We're adding in CV and pitch inputs on the CI one at a time, then adjusting the Center control to change the harmonic used to build the waveform. The Clep Diaz is adjusting the release on the Sinc Bucina. Mix is then sent through Electus Versio for the clocked reverb.

Jam 3: In this ambient patch, we've added a pitch input and 4 CV inputs to the CI, then we stepped aside and watched it play this beautiful generative journey.

Jam 4: It doesn't take much to make some exciting timbres out of the Cursus Iteritas. It plays very well here with Mimetic Digitalis, Fractio Solum, Horologic Solum, Loquelic Iteritas Percido, Bin Seq, and Imitor Versio. The Sinc Bucina shapes the sounds from Cursus, and the mix is sent through Electus Versio for some clocked reverb.

Jam 5: This time we're sending gates and modulation through every CV input on the Cursus Iteritas. The result is a huge variety of harmonic sounds and timbres. Then we follow that up with some Melotus Versio granular processing.

"Lapsus Os is a four channel attenuator/attenuverter and offset. Designed with performance in mind, each channel can be set to either attenuate or attenuate/invert an incoming signal, adjust offset of an incoming signal, or with nothing patched to its input, generate a 0–5v or ±5v offset. Switches on the back of the module invert the fader behavior, allowing for the module to be mounted in either direction, for further customization and ease of use.

Jam features the Lapsus Os controlling 6 CV outputs: 2 for the Manis Iteritas, 2 for the Ataraxic Iteritas, 1 for the Wasp Filter, and 1 for the 2HP VCA. Kicks are from the BIA."

BAF 2024: Noise Engineering - Alia Series Modules

video upload by sonicstate

"We Met Marcus from Noise Engineering at Buchla And Friends 2024 and he gave us an overview of their new products, including the Alia series of oscillators. The Alia series features their four classic oscillators - Basimilus Iteritas, Manis Iteritas, Cursus Iteritas, and Ataraxic Iteritas - all redesigned with the ability to swap firmwares. This allows users to try any of the six available firmwares and easily switch between them on their website. Marcus also demonstrated the Debel Iteritas and Incus Iteritas modules, offering FM and percussive-oriented sounds respectively.

In addition to the Alia series, Noise Engineering also presented two prototype modules. The first is Pax Digitalis, a quantized random source with four channels, allowing users to create randomized sequences with adjustable deviation and direction, as well as the ability to loop and change scale. The second prototype is Sinc Seq, an arpeggiator that provides the flexibility to build custom arpeggios, save them, and cycle through them with triggers. Release dates and prices for these prototypes are yet to be announced

Alia Modules Price: 389 USD

Versio, Legio and/or Alia? - All Of Them 2023

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"This is a bit of a tribute to Noise Engineering, the discontinued Iteritas family, the birth of the Alia platform and a trip down memory lane. This video features most of the Versio firmwares, the alternative Multiversio firmware, Cursus Iteritas, Manis Iteritas, Basimilus, Debel Alia and the Loquelic as well as the Mimetic Digitalis sequencer. The Rabbit Hole is not a fairy tale and sometimes I feel I went way to deep for the sake of this channel. This video is not sponsored, endorsed or affiliated with Noise Engineering in any way. It's more like an independent fan film. Expressions used in this video are my own. As always, what works for me, may not work for you so always think twice before you buy, and then think again. I want to inspire, which is hopefully a positive way of 'influencing'. I hate that word.

There's a bit of a dark undertone in this video, maybe you don't even notice it. But it hurts when a whole line of gear gets discontinued for whatever reason. It feels like I made a bad decision on those modules even though this is bullshit. Suddenly, they feel old, especially when they're ported to something way more clever like the new Alia platform. I also had this feeling when I started with a discontinued old Shared System in 2018. It's now one of my most cherished gear. I had the same feeling when Mutable Instruments retired. I now have that same feeling when MakeNoise announced the last run of the Black & Gold, and maybe the concept of 'systems' all together. It feels a bit like all your favorite bands are breaking up. Whatever. It will pass. Regardless, there's some great music coming from these modules and I had a wonderful time with the Iteritas and Versio line. This turned out to be a true dream machine and everything I patch just works (for me).

I've finished my Noise Engineering case after four years and I may be drawing the line here because there's no more room for new modules. 'All of Them' refers to a video I made in 2020, featuring a compare of the Iteritas family (CIP excluded). And suddenly, they're all history except the LI, CIP and my personal favorite LIP which is - imho - still at the top of the food chain. I'll focus on new firmwares for Alia, Legio and Versio, and probably make a few videos about small NE setups with the stuff I have. Today, 2023, it's both cool and shocking to see how the landscape has changed. Now let's hope the Daisy chip will stay around for a long time."

Noise Engineering Clep Diaz Tutorial & Cheat Sheet - Learning & Using the 4hp CV/LFO Generator

video upload by Rochefsky

"Clep Diaz is an incredibly powerful CV + LFO generator eurorack module from Noise Engineering in a very small 4hp package - with simple controls and expressive results to spice up your modular patches. I've created a 1-page cheat sheet for this module, and this video is the companion tutorial to describe the capabilities and operation of Clep Diaz while referring to the cheat sheet.

Find your way quickly to the contents of this video:
0:00 - Intro
0:52 - Modes step, rand, lfo
1:50 - Step order
2:18 - Count Encoder
3:20 - Step & Reset Buttons
3:55 - Clock Input
4:22 - Reset Input
4:33 - CV Input for Count
4:45 - Bi/Uni-Polar Outputs
5:15 - BOC Output
6:00 - Patch Notes
6:38 - Add Reset & CV
9:00 - Jam & Cheat Sheet

The Patch is mostly a @NoiseEngineering jam, with the exception of Pamela's New Workout clocking and providing some modulation to Clep Diaz inputs.
Vox Digitalis - 2 of 'em - provide the pitch CVs to both the bass line and the main voice VCOs.
Clep Diaz of course modulating two VCOs.
Manis Iteritas is the bass line VCO.
Cursus Iteritas Percido is the string-like voice being modulated by Clep Diaz on the TIME and FOLD parameter CV inputs.
Lapsus Os provides some control over the level of the bi- nd Uni-polar outputs of Clep - although I left those alone at base voltage throughout this video/patch.
Electus Versio provides effects.
Mordax Data is my Oscilliscope.

Cheat Sheet for Clep Diaz is here:

Noise Engineering’s Most Melodic Voice? A Cursus Iteritas Demo

video upload by pitch patch

"This is a demo of the Cursus Iteritas by Noise Engineering. I go through all knobs and show two patch ideas.

Cursus Iteritas is a digital eurorack oscillator that uses a dynamically generated wavetable to create a wide variety of harmonic sounds. It gives you spectral-like controls over three different modes based on different conceptualizations of frequency.

You can get further information and the manual here: https://bit.ly/cursusiteritas

I use 100% raw audio: no preamp, no compression, no effects.

Noise Engineering Cursus Iteritas

via Control

"Dynamically generated wavetable oscillator with multiple orthogonal functions.

Cursus Iteritas is an oscillator that works from a dynamically generated wavetable. It gives the user spectral-like controls over three different modes based on different conceptualizations of frequency: Fourier, which uses sine waves; Daubechies, using wavelets, and Walsh mode, using the Walsh transform. Cursus Iteritas parametrizes a wide variety of sounds, but because the sounds are all based off of orthogonal functions, it has a musical tone structure and can produce an extremely wide variety of harmonic sounds.

Width: 10HP
Max Depth: 38mm
Power: 50mA@ +12V , 5mA@ -12V , 0mA@ +5V"

You can find a few videos featuring the Cursus Iteritas here.
