"I'm pretty sure it's called the SY-1010 (not sx1010). Single VCO and envelope synth from 1978. In direct competition with the Roland SH-09 (same Japanese release date and price). Given that an espablished brand like Yamaha came out with the cheaper CS-5 within about 2 months I'm not sure it had much ground to compete on.

I wonder if those paper labels stuck on it are someone's attempt in translating the control names into Japanese?"

Rare Technics SY-1010 analogue synthesizer (1979)

Not the best shots, but you don't see these often.

"A light weight synthesizer manufactured by technics in 1979. It's all analogue, with no battery for memory or anything like that, so it's probably still quite clean inside, and has survived in good condition for nearly 30 years.

It is compact (roughly the same size as a technics SL-1200 turntable)

Typical Oscillator+Noise->Filter->VCA monosynth setup with LFO.

The LFO can go up to quite high frequencies (i'm guessing around 100hz or maybe higher), so it can be used as an FM effect.

There is also a tuning knob for the main oscillator, which has a range of less than 100hz, up to somewhere above 10000hz.

There are no inputs at all to this synth. But i guess someone with experience could add cv/gate inputs, and probably even midi too, if that was required."

"Word on the street is Technics threw away all assets & manuals when they shut down their synth department. They must've gotten tired of all that SL 1200 success so they went on a edgy streak.

This synth is simple but effective and has it's own character. Included is a cover that says Technics Music Synthesizer to guilt trip you into playing this little beast.

Also included, translucent overlay in Japanese if you are interested in learning Katakana. Which you should.

Japanese model, comes with a step down transformer if you need one."

"This is a Japanese domestic market synthesizer from the late 1970's by Technics. A simple looking synth capable of making a variety of sounds.

This particular unit came from a private collector in Japan, has a clear,acetate overlay in Japanese describing some functions or patches (not really sure)

This machine is clean cosmetically and fully operational , it was also upgraded with audio grade capacitors prior to my purchase. This is a 100v version so a step up/down converter is a good idea for any prolonged use."

"Looks good (have some scratches and erosion), works perfectly. (the keyboard is yellowish )

Pots and switches moves without any cracks or noises. The tune is fine.

Matte finish has degraded in some places, and looks glossy.
Transparent film with Japanese signs can be removed, if you don't like it."
