micromac_poly2.mpg

YouTube Uploaded by macbethsynthesizers on Feb 27, 2012

"here's a further experiment using the separate Control Voltage Inputs to the 3 Oscillators that micromac has- playing three note chords but recorded as a sequencec! This is the sound of 2 x micromac units with the lead solo sounds coming from the sister unit- the Photon! Occassionaly, I wear a hat...please excuse!"

MacBeth Elements Synthesizer Videos 2 and 3

MacBeth Elements SynthesizerVIDEO2

Published on Mar 24, 2014 macbethsynthesizers·108 videos

"Here is another video of the MacBeth Elements Synthesizer...more spaced out meanderings! I will be doing what I call *standard* demos....but some people seem to like the off beat stuff that I'm doing...! All sounds on here- one machine! Available for purchase from Analogue Haven/Schneiders/Alex4/Awave....and direct! Release date June 2014"

MacBeth Elements SynthesizerVIDEO3

Published on Mar 24, 2014

"Here's a slightly more dramatic video- a face off between the Elements Synthesizer and the MacBeth MK1 Monster 5U Modular Synthesizer! The keyboard and modulation functions are driving the bottom row of the Mk1 Modular - that is (including the Elements synthesizer) 6 audio oscillators. The Elements Spring Reverberator is well active here too....! The row above on the Mk1 is another 3 Oscillators/Mixer/Filter/EGs etc and that is being driven in a percussive way froma Korg SQ-10 Voltage Controlled sequencer...watch out for one of my (own) x-series modules fly out of the rack I'm at as I bash away! I wasn't screwed in- and it made a soft landing! As mentioned in previous videos- the Elements Synthesizer is available for pre-order from Analogue Haven/Schneiders'/Alex4 and Awave! THings should be out in June!"

MacBeth Mk1 Portable Test 1.mpg

YouTube Uploaded by macbethsynthesizers on Aug 14, 2011

"Here's a video that I did on the landing of the apartment where I stay. I wanted to show the somewhat portable nature of the MacBeth Mk1 modules in action. What you see here is 8 Mk1 modules sitting on a music stand. I'm using a Korg Prophecy as a keyboard controller and the sound is blended with ping-pong echo! Musically- well, it's not much- but it does give you an impression of what could be done outside of the studio!"

MacBeth - new x-series 1.mpg

YouTube Uploaded by macbethsynthesizers on Oct 19, 2011

"This is first short intro vid for the new Macbeth X-Series Modules in 3U- more to follow- but I like the slightly heavy feel to this! You are basically listening to one oscillator triggering two dual EGs sweeping the the dual SV filter- so it's one filter module that you are hearing!
Available from Analogue Haven and Schneidersladen very shortly!"

MacBeth NEXUS Test #5

Published on Jun 24, 2013 macbethsynthesizers·83 videos

"As I finalize the design of the NEXUS synthesizer for production- I took it the prototype through to the work bench. Basically- the work/refinements are complete. This recording has no external effects- the only sounds are from the NEXUS itself! I've designed a synthesizer that has the type of sound, similar to that used on the David Bowie trilogy that was recorded in Berlin in the seventies- see what you think!"

MacBeth Nexus, before manufacture, final act!

Published on Nov 14, 2013 macbethsynthesizers·94 videos

"Working today, and infact the last week or so on the Nexus touch keyboard analogue synth I'm doing- I left it to run by it'self today, in the background, ambient!

I posted this message on facebook!

'Hi All, well for those following my up and coming next *new* synth- the Nexus- I have spent just over a week working with some slight changes here and there, as well as a couple of circuits too. Basically, all that I have designed so far is top. I have been working most of the last couple of days, now applying what I've designed into the layout of the PCBs and front panel. Over today, I've just let this thing run it's self in the background. I must say, it's been playing some of the most depressing sounds that I've heard in a long time. Melancholics will delight! This thing is coming straight out of the cold war!'
I can't be straight- well not all the time!"

Change Player Size Watch this video in a new window x series1vid 0001

YouTube via macbethsynthesizers
"Ken MacBeth plays two X-Series Dual Oscillator modules with two of the 'Backend' Filter combo module prototypes. Used here are a Korg Prophecy being utilsed as a controller keyboard with a Kenton Pro4- this is doing the octaving arpeggio. The main lead stuff is being played via the first X-Series Keyboard 1 prototype- this is a totally analogue keyboard assembly! Recorded on a Fostex FD-8, ART LTX processor and filmed on a Nikon D90 camera using a Nikkor 18~150 VR lens on manual...enjoy!"

Micromac D Part Two: Oscillators

Published on Oct 7, 2013 macbethsynthesizers·90 videos

"This is the second video aimed to demonstrate the diverse capabilities of the three oscillator desktop sized MacBeth X-Series Micromac-D analogue synthesizer. In this video, we get to hear what the Oscillator section does, plus a few extras! As always, when things get going- hows does one adequately show what the potential of this thing has? Watch on...........there's some Trio-phony too!"

MacBeth Elements switched mode!

Published on Jul 24, 2014 macbethsynthesizers

"This video shows a new parameter that I'm experimenting with on the Elements before its goes of for production- I say experiment- because this switch I've added could be utilized another way! So- what does it do- in this experiment- I have tapped out the very bottom rung of the diode ladder- I wanted to hear what it sounded like compared to the tap out that I did in the MacBeth Mk1 Filter 'A' Module...I certainly like the sound! I'm going to try interpolating 2 different filters shortly!"

Surfing the edge of the Diode Ladder

Published on Dec 17, 2013 macbethsynthesizers·99 videos

"Just before work today- I switched on the experiments again! Here we have a new filter type that I've been working on- it's very squelchy at the poit of self oscillation. I've used a Korg SQ-10 sequerncer as a modulating oscillator, a function generator sweeping a low freq triangle waveform and a Macbeth X-Series Oscillator for the audio......also- I'm using my experimental 'tape delay simulator' stuff! I just wanted to record this before I take it down for work again...one of those patches!"

MacBeth test stylus keyboard

YouTube Published on Jun 14, 2012 by macbethsynthesizers

"Here is a very short video fearuring a small two octave stylus control keyboard! The outputs are Glide 1 (1v/octave), Glide 2 (1V/Octave), Standard 1VOctave, Negative (reverse going) 1V/Octave and finaqly +5V gate. The keyboard is driving the soon to be released MacBeth micromac analogue synthesizer. It's a handy accessory for any modular synthesizer user! The copper plate that I'm using is highly reflective!"

Ken MacBeth Three Shadows

YouTube Published on May 16, 2012 by macbethsynthesizers

"As we hit production of the micromac- her's one of the last videos from the prototype units- this video features the desktop version doing baqss lines and the 3U format version doing some strange glide stuff! It's been an interesting experiment- the keyboard controllers are 2 x Korg Prophecies doing the arpegiation thing at different timings! Apart from my own designs featured here- I'd highly recommend 2 x Prophecies as keyboard controllers! I guess all this sound coming from such small units....starts to erase the need for the massive modular...especially if you after this kind of sound! All played live....and yes, the video needs a touch of brightening slash contrast!"

MacBeth micromac-r/'vaporware' Video

Published on Sep 21, 2012 by macbethsynthesizers

"The first batch of micromac-r units have finally come back from assembly! The micromac-d is to follow on shortly! During this time I developed a stylus controller/synth! I call it 'vapoware' because it's only a thought....well for just now! Her it is controlling the all new micromac-r as well as generating it's own sounds!....hope you enjoy!"

I DYE

YouTube Uploaded by macbethsynthesizers on Mar 28, 2012

"I would never have known that my first vocal interaction with the micromac would sound like this! It keeps telling me 'I Dye'!!...bascally this vid has a pre-recorded sequence with the 'mac, as well as a self-oscillating 'mac filter doing the squarewave stuff- and recorded as you see it is me tweaking the filter with oscillator 3 cross modulating it!....it sounds real heavy I think!"
