Big Briar Cove - Bob Moog's View

via Brian Kehew:
"A photo of the area called Big Briar Cove, taken from the porch deck of the home where Bob and Shirleigh Moog raised their kids. It's where Bob took the name Big Briar when he started his new company, long before they regained the rights to Moog Music Inc. Such a beautiful location, far from the main roads and even neighbors! There's a stream on the property and woods all around.

I had always head about this area and the house where they lived, but thought it would be good to share this wonderful place, a common sight in Bob's 'normal' life."

Five New Modules Due July from Synthwerks

click the image for a larger shot.
http://synthwerks.com/
"- The FSR-4C/B combo unit based on our recently redesigned FSR-4 controller core (the "C" part - now shallower module depth and SMD parts) offering a separate panel with 4 bigger FSR sensors (the "B" part). They are connected internally via a ribbon cable so the sensor pads can be located next to or above or below the controller module. The sensors with a larger playing surface will make it easier to control and will open up a wider playing style to the user.

- The FSR-1N Single Channel Force Sensing Resistor Module. A smaller and low cost (~$90) FSR module that is one channel of the FSR-4 which uses less panel space. The 4HP panel size will allow placement is almost any part of your rig and its shallow depth allows use in desktop control surfaces.

- Th PC5V Patch Cord Checker and +5V supply. This module is a +5V power supply that converts the +12V from the bus and puts +5V to the bus. It also has a handy patch cord checker that independently checks both the signal and shield parts of the patch cord. The module also provide a variable DC voltage for use as a bias voltage for the rest of your system.

- The LAMP-1 and LAMP-2 USB Lamp modules. These module contain a current regulated power source to drive USB gooseneck lamps to illuminate your system easily. They come supplied with the standard white-LED laptop LED lamp but can be used with any LED USB lamp. The lamp's brightness is controlled with a front panel dimmer control. The current limited circuitry allows the use of may USB lamps including multi led lamp bars etc. LAMP-1 has a 4-way multiple (can't have enough Mults!) and the LAMP-2 offers two separate LAMPS with their own dimmer controls."

Nicks World of Synthesis - 6 OSC Mini Synth

via this auction

"Hand made 6 oscillator mini synthesizer

I have been making synthesizers for over 10 years but this is the first time I have made anything to sell. To see all my work go to nicksworldofsynthesizers.com

The 6 knobs tune the oscillators and the keys switch them on. In normal mode it can make simple melodies and harmonies.

There is a switch that makes all the oscillators sync to the first oscillator. This has the effect of making the oscillators lock to the nearest harmonics of the first oscillator and makes some very strange harmonies.

The chaos depth knob makes all the oscillators attempt to sync to each other. The result is quite extreme unpredictable noise and sonic convolsions.

The circuit is descrete transistor which give the sound a rich analogue quality. The case has a nice vintage industrial design with engraved lettering and phenolic moog style knobs."
