"This is the much prefered J-Wire version, due to the fact that the keyboard can be easily dismantled and the J-wires de-oxidised if the notes begin to double trigger and fairly easily maintained."

Formant modular synthesizer

"13 module Formant modular synthesizer.

The modules are:
3 VCO,s with 5 waveforms each.
1 VCF with 3 band filter.
1 24db VCF with HP/LP and db switch.
1 RFM module
1 mixer output module.
1 noise generator
1 LFO with 12 waveform outputs!
2 ADRS's
1 VCA
1 module is empty

Item is in a case with power unit inside, no keyboard available.

The VCO's, filters, output mixer, noise and LFO are tested for output signal and all give waveform outputs and correct filter response.

I do not have a CV/Gate keyboard to test the ADSR's and VCA but item was purchased as "working" so i am convinced they are ok.

Since it is a old formant some pots are scratchy and it could use some TLC but nothing serious.

Item is sold as "broken" due to the fact it is a Formant DIY synth but this only a formality, i would not be put off when wanting to own this synth.

I suggest future buyer is a DIY modular enthusiastic, one that knows what the Formant heritage is."

Franz Lorbeer & Dieter Doepfer at the Musikmesse

via STROMKULT

"Franz Lorbeer was helping to explain the monstermonstercase (see pic) to the audience in Frankfurt. Because it is a bit more complicated to understand the uncounted possibilities of such a system, this one will stay in Frankfurt now on display at S-MUSIC, a well known biggest musical instrument store around…"

The new Dark Energy II was being shown as well.

ALEX4 at the Musikmesse

via STROMKULT

"A company making everything for the retail business serving other companies like Schneidersladen with smaller manufacturers goods has introduced themselves as ALEX4 distribution GmbH in Frankfurt now."

That looks like Andreas Schneider, the man behind STROMKULT and Schneiders Buero. They are known for their super booths at the Musikmesse. Andreas also produced the film Totally Wired, A documentary film about Andreas Schneider's infamous 'Schneider's Buero' [Schneidersbuero], the boutique electronic musical instrument shop in Berlin..
