Crumar Compac Synth Vintage Italian Synthesizer

Published on Jul 1, 2019 Riccardo Pietroni

"The Crumar Compac Synth is a very rare analog synthesizer released in 1976. It follows a line of Compac instruments products that Crumar manufactured like the Compac Piano and Compac Strings. Very few of these have been produced and in an interview Luciano Jura (Crumar Synth) says that they are practically only prototypes."

You can find some pics of one here.

"Unique model inserted in a custom cabinet made of solid wood adjusted with precision. The wood used is a very hard exotic species, it comes from n 40 years old table, which ensures stability and pronounced veining. The very soft surface condition was obtained thanks to multiple sanding after successive moorings, which ensures an extremely fine grain. The set then simply received a layer of exotic oil. All functions of the synthesizer are accessible, the power supply has been integrated into the case. The synthesizer is loaded with a good amount of unique ambient patches, which you can listen via the link below [video above]. Equipped with the same sound engine as the Radias, the R3 although little known, is a very powerful and versatile synthesizer."

"The Conduit is a symbiotic touch-based drone synthesizer based on a delay which then travels to a filter. Creating swells of oscillation that can delve into eternal noisy feedback territory as one desires. Connect to a sequencer to control the time/pitch and pull forth some powerful synthesis. The touch panel is also a cv keyboard, generating 0-5v in .5v increments.

Pic of a software editor below. Note the description states the K3 has 31 wavetables. It's actually 31 digital waveshapes. The K3 is not a PPG/Waldorf style wavetable synth where you can sweep through different waveforms in a wavetable. It's closer to the KORG DW8000 and Poly-800 with digital waveforms and analog filters. The K3 has SSM2044 filter chips. It's a beautiful sounding synth.

"Vintage Kawai K3 Wavetable Synthesizer with Analog Filters & Envelopes + Juno 106 Analog Chorus circuit. 31 amazing wavetables (mostly), and an additional one that can be programmed to your specs.

This thing was barely played and sat in climate controlled storage after its life at a 'IBM PC Lab'. The buttons are perfect, and I’d say it’s in A- shape cosmetically – pretty stellar for a 35+ year old synth."
