YMO - Firecracker (Budokan 1980)

YouTube via tfgts10 | Dec 7, 2006 |
I spy and EMU modular.
"music by Martin Denny
"Yellow Magic Orchestra World Tour '80 From Tokio To Tokyo"
Live at Budokan (Dec.27,1980)

a.k.a. "Computer Games" in U.S.

Jennifer Lopez "I'm Real""

Thanks goes to @Chris_Randall for this one.

Update: via the world of next tuesday in the comments: "Actually "Computer Games - Theme from The Circus" is the intro piece before "Firecracker". It's made up of "The Circus" arcade game sounds which then segue without a break into "Firecracker". Though I'm thinking it's likely that some non-Japanese singles might combine the two as "Computer Games" rather than name the single "Firecracker" or use a longer title. In Japan it wasn't a single.

Also the New York Post made the claim that Mariah Carey was working on a track featuring YMO's riff as a loop only to discover J-Lo had just completed her song with the same riff and that it might have precipitated her big breakdown back then."

  3. Sad that two hip hop/pop tools need to bite off the same inspiration "amazingly enough".

WTF is the girl doing in the background on the OBX other than bouncing up and down?

  4. That's Akiko Yano who has serious skills. Perhaps she's jumping because she's about to become or just became Mrs. Sakamoto. They split long ago.

Here is her recent show with Rei Harakami- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ_WKgOwEGI&feature=related
and yeah, she can hold her own with Hiromi
