via the listing: "Get your hands on one of the most powerful analog synths of the 1980's! I bought this Matrix from Sam Ash in LA and it's been well-maintained. Over the summer I had the encoder knobs replaced with parts from SYNTAUR and are 100% functional. It has always passed the "tune all" diagnostics (see photos). I also upgraded the original VFD's (displays) with more resilient ones from Benden Technology. In fact, I actually got the very last replacement they made. I will include the original displays as well. There are a few scratches on the metal parts of the frame (see photos) and under the keybed, where paint has chipped. On the side wood panels, one of the original screws is missing. Other than that, I'd say it's in very good shape for a 32-year-old synth.
The synth itself is incredible- for a non-modular the modulation options are seemingly limitless due to Oberheim's "Modulation Matrix." You can program it from the front panel but I would strongly recommend a sysex editor to really get into the deep menus. And of course, the VCO sound is thick, lush, and rich right out of the box, but it can sound bell-like and even a bit DX7-ish if you want.
Check out the video for a few sample patches."
