Oberheim SEM vs GForce SEM - Is the 2022 software a match for the analog counterpart?

video upload by Friendly Noise

A comparison between the modern Oberheim SEM module and the GForce SEM software.

Raw recording. No effects or processing added.

Video sections:

11 Introduction
41 01 Sawtooth waves, closed tuned for phase cancellation
00 02 Square wave with long attack and release time
05 03 Square wave, PWM by LFO
37 04 Same as 03 but with two square waves, closed tuned for phase cancellation
34 05 Two sawtooth waves, low notes, 75% resonance
20 06 Same as 05 but with some VCO detuning to get a fatter sound
37 07 Square wave, PWM and LP/HP cutoff modulation by LFO
42 08 Two square waves, VCO2-PWM and LP/HP cutoff modulation by LFO
26 09 Square wave, HP cutoff modulation by LFO
21 10 Two square waves, PWM and HP modulation by LFO, fastest LFO rate
09 11 Square wave, BP filter, slow attack
10 12 Square wave, PWM by LFO at highest rate, BP filter
56 13 Saw wave, 100% resonance, BP cutoff modulated by LFO, slowest LFO rate
19 14 Square wave, BP filter, 100% resonance on GForce, less than 100% resonance on Oberheim
33 15 Same as 14, but Oberheim SEM filter gets into selfoscillation with 100% resonance
32 16 No VCO output, but still sound from the filter oscillation on the Oberheim SEM
55 17 Warm brassy single saw with no resonance
38 18 Same as 17 but with 100% resonance
16 19 Square wave with clean bright sound
58 20 Sync sound
50 21 A dark sound with LP filter and a little HP added for extra harmonics
59 22 Audio range filter modulation using VCO2 (Oberheim) or VCO3 (GForce), filter cutoff knob turned to the left.
53 23 Same as 23 but filter cutoff is now halfway open
51 24 Dark sound with VCO1 as fundamental and some VCO2 for added high frequencies
51 25 Clean sequence sound with PWM of VCO1 and some extra VCO2 in the high frequencies
34 26 Clean sequence with high keys
19 27 Last sequence with old school sound
20 28 My two cents
