Too Much of a Good Thing? // GForce Oberheim OB-1
video upload by Starsky Carr
"Review and demo of the GForce OB-1. In collaboration with Oberheim, GForce have released an emulation of the rare vintage OB1. The hardware will cost you over £4000 so this is an absolute bargain.
As we've come to expect from GForce it sounds fabulous, plus it has all their additions like the XLFO and XADSR.
I do, however, have reservations... and that's because after making this video and spending so much time playing with it
1. I now would love to get my hands on a real OB-1, even for just a few hours, and
2. with all the additions on this you realise quite how limited vintage synths and lots of hardware synths can be.
I'm glad I picked it up, but would like the option to have a bit more of the vintage experience - remove all the extras and leave me with the limitations of the original - its art of the fun of these emulations (for me at least)."

GForce Oberheim OB-1 Walkthrough
GForce Software and Oberheim proudly unveil the Oberheim OB-1.
It’s incredible that the 1978 hardware Oberheim® OB-1 has remained under the radar for so long. The GForce Oberheim OB-1 broadens the Oberheim sound palette in ways that we believe will see it become a big favourite among techno and electro producers and underground artists, as well as composers for its character and anyone cherishing vintage analogue tones. Its rich, aggressive sound and expansive feature set make it an essential hustler.
The GForce Oberheim OB-1 delivers a sound as full and robust as the legendary Minimoog® yet as aggressive and snarling as the MS-20®. It strikes the perfect balance between these two icons, making it an incredibly versatile tool in any producer’s arsenal.
Whether you’re conjuring deep bass lines or soaring leads or looking for something a little extra special, the Oberheim OB-1 is your ultimate ally in the studio.
Join the rebellion against mundane sounds and bring balance to your music with the timeless strength of the OB-1. Let the OB-1 guide your sonic journey like a true master.
HOW WAS IT AUGMENTED?
The GForce Oberheim OB-1 emulation has been richly enhanced to bring the best of both worlds—vintage charm aligned with modern possibilities. Here are the key enhancements:
Enhanced Signal Path: The OB-1 retains the authentic, rich tones of the original while benefiting from a new waveform alongside waveshape modulation, discreet level for the oscillators, sub and noise, LFO sync & retrig, Envelope looping, discreet key tracking, cross-mod, pan spread and more.
Polyphony up to 16 Voices and Unison: Unlike the monophonic original, we’ve added polyphony and mono unison.
X-Modifier: Unlocks unparalleled creative possibilities by enabling direct modulation of most parameters, transforming your sonic landscape with ease.
High Pass Filter: This addition allows for more precise control over the frequency spectrum, enabling cleaner mixes and more intricate sound design.
Chorus, Delay, and Reverb Effects: Integrated effects expand the sonic palette, allowing for lush, atmospheric, and dynamic soundscapes.
Four Versatile Macros: These provide real-time control over key parameters, enhancing expressive performance and sound customization. Macro4 can be modulated by the sequencer. This can get very creative.
Built-in Arpeggiator and Sequencer: These tools make it easy to create dynamic rhythmic and melodic patterns, adding depth and complexity to your music. The sequencer features individual step length and probability, as well as a track dedicated to sequencing Macro4.
Advanced Patch Browser: Quickly find and customize the perfect sound from a vast preset library, streamlining the creative process.
These enhancements ensure that our Oberheim OB-1 is not just a nostalgic homage but a powerful and versatile musical instrument.

Parapolyparty - Retro Jam with DSI Pro-2 in paraphonic mode and Eurorack VCOs
video upload by thesrabbit
"Follow-up to my demo/tutorial video on setting up a paraphonic patch on the DSI Pro-2, supplementing each of its four digital oscillators with Eurorack VCOs.
I had to do something fun with it besides a basic demo, and the 2 oscillators per note/voice gave the "Filter 1" patch from the previous video some serious 80's analog poly vibes. I shortened the decay and release envelope times to make it punchier. This jam is the natural result of dialing in that sound. I bleed the 80's, haha.
Instruments:
Dave Smith Instruments Pro-2 (main synth)
Oberheim OB-X8 (octave down bass)
Roland JX-3P (sprinkles of majesty)
G-Force Software Oberheim DMX (drums)
Alesis Midiverb II (Gated reverb on snare, bloom reverb on toms)
Modules: Roland System-500 512 VCOs, 530 VCAs, 540 Envelopes, Wavefonix Dual CEM 3340, Doeper dual envelopes, Arcus Audio dual VCA, Pittsburgh Modular Giraffe, Doepfer VCA, Happy Nerding FX Aid Pro (for additional majestic reverb for the majesty)
Patch demo with on-screen tutorial:" [posted here]

The 1978 Oberheim OB-1 – An Underrated Enigma.
video upload by GForce Software
"It’s incredible that the Oberheim OB-1 has remained under the radar for so long. The Oberheim OB-1 holds a special place in the history of synthesisers. Launched in 1978, it was the world’s first programmable monophonic synthesiser. Designed by Tom Oberheim and his team, this revolutionary instrument brought the power of preset memory to the world of analogue synthesis, allowing musicians to easily store and recall their unique sounds.
Despite its groundbreaking features and historical significance, the OB-1 has remained somewhat under the radar compared to other classic synthesisers like the Minimoog. However, those who have experienced its capabilities know that the OB-1 is a true gem. This instrument delivers a sound as beefy and robust as the legendary Minimoog, yet it can get as aggressive as the MS20. It strikes a perfect balance, sitting sonically between these two icons.
In a superbly crafted documentary produced and narrated by the esteemed Dave Spiers, the history and uniqueness of the Oberheim OB-1 are brought to life in a way that is both enlightening and deeply engaging."

GForce Software AXXESS Synth Review - Sonic LAB
video upload by sonicstate
"GForce Software's latest release - based on the lowly but highly regarded mono synth the Arp Axxe, which had 1 oscillator, one filter, one LFO and 1 ADSR.
The Axxess is somewhat enhanced. Firstly you get 6 voice polyphony, FX in the form of distortion, delay and reverb, plus an additional sub oscillator and of course the GForce XMOD additions - essentially a dedicated X-LFO and X-ENV for pretty much each parameter. This expands the capabilities significantly."

#jamuary2024 14 HWJ "Remix" (FOCUS ISSUE) of Noisevember 22 w/ GForce Axxess & Tenori on
video upload by SynthAddict
"Sorry I had a camera fixed focus issue and it's a bit fuzzy - no time to re-make the jam...
Unsure of what to remix, I grabbed some looper stems from my "all Osmose" Noisevember 22 video to mix live on Maschine+ and also added some other live bits:
- GForce Axxess synth
- Tenori-on factory drum kit in layer 16 live mode
It ran a bit long as I got carried away, but it generally repeats around 6:20...
The Axxess patch gives it a Vangelis vibe 🙂"
