Hainbach & Bram Bos Skulptur: Now Sends Midi CC!
video upload by Gavinski’s Tutorials
"Skulptur, the performance-focused filterbank plugin by Bram Bos and Hainbach (iPad, iPhone, Mac) just got an update allowing you to use it as a midi CC controller for other iOS apps, or for hardware or desktop software etc that are able to receive midi CC messages from your iPad. In this video I look at:
How to set this up
What you can do with it
One change I would like to see to make it more useful
This is a very nice update, great to have this added functionality. If you haven’t watched it yet, and are into apps that can be used as CC midi controllers, watch my video on the new sqsl Strips app for iPad linked below. Not AUv3, but has some very nice features that are not covered by what Skulptur can do, plus a lot more faders:"
So useful: Strips iPad Midi CC Controller by Michal Macura / sqsl / Seqsual: Not AUv3, but🔥#droneday
video upload by Gavinski’s Tutorials
"This is a walkthrough of Strips by sqsl / seqsual / Michal Macura. Links and info are down below, I’d advise reading the info and watching the video before buying to make sure this is the droid you’re looking for. I love it and it will come in so handy for me. Strips is marketed as an iPad controller for VCV Rack, but it can be used to send midi CC messages to anything that accepts them. Here I’m using it to control various AUv3 apps loaded inside the host app AUM on my iPad. Strips itself, sadly, is not AUv3, but still extremely useful. AUM doesn’t have its own automation system, and this is a very elegant and well-designed tool for automating anything that can receive CC messages. As long as your apps or hardware are able to receive midi messages from an iPad, this might be useful for you. You can dial in changes by hand or you can very easily record slider movements and play them back, with handy rate sliders that can be used to adjust the playback speed for each slider. IT also has a beautiful feature that allows you to morph between presets. Overall, a beautifully conceived and executed app. Setup in AUM and the UI controls are explained in detail in this video.
I forgot to mention one important thing. It seems that by default, the ‘Keep Setup’ button is on. If this is on, when you switch presets, the labeling, CC numbers and channel numbers from your current session will apply to the session you are switching to. This is not the behaviour I want usually, and caused a lot of confusion for me initially, so I always try to remember to toggle this off! There is one control in the Strips UI that I didn’t explain: ‘Force Send’. I’m not sure what this does. Still waiting for a reply from the developer on that. If you know, please drop a comment explaining its function. Thanks."
