KORG Collection 6 - TRINITY: The 1995 Icon Reborn

video upload by Korg

"The KORG Collection is a suite of software synthesizers that methodically and accurately recreates the authentic sound and behavior of legendary KORG synthesizers for the present day and beyond. The KORG Collection project began with analogue synths such as the MS-20, Polysix and Mono/Poly, and has steadily evolved to include digital synths such as the world’s most popular synth, the legendary microKORG, the workstation classics M1 and TRITON, and physical modeling synthesis from the renowned Prophecy. The KORG Collection even includes the ARP ODYSSEY and ARP 2600, both revived for the 21st century by KORG.

In 2025, KORG added three legendary instruments to the KORG Collection - each an icon of its era, celebrated for their distinctive presence and heard over decades in countless classic tracks.

TRINITY - Released in 1995, this breakthrough synthesizer defined KORG in the 1990s. Its sleek silver body, futuristic TouchView GUI (the first synth with touchscreen operation), and exceptionally high-quality, large-scale PCM sound set new standards for synthesizers of its time. Now, on the 30th anniversary of its debut, it has been faithfully recreated in software form.

PS-3300 - Produced for only about five years, from 1977 to 1981, with less than 50 units ever made, this fully polyphonic analog synthesizer remains one of the rarest and most revered instruments in music history. Its massive sound engine equivalent to 144 MS-20s has been meticulously modeled with cutting-edge technology, and further enhanced with expanded contemporary functionality.

SGX-2 - The ultimate premium piano sound engine from KRONOS and NAUTILUS. It captures the tones of the world’s finest concert grand pianos, recorded in full-stereo, loopless samples for every single key. From the natural decay of each note to the organic resonance of chords, every detail reproduces the realism of a true acoustic piano.

Faithfully capturing and preserving the legendary sounds that shaped the music, culture, and technology of each era, KORG Collection 6 stands as a true synthesizer museum across generations."

A showcase of legendary sounds

Some of the plugins faithfully model the essence of some of the really great Korg analog synthesizers, such as KORG's first mass-produced analog synthesizer, the miniKORG 700S (1974); the ultimate masterpiece of the series, the PS-3300 (1977), a fully polyphonic analog synthesizer; the MS-20 (1978), with its unique, iconic, fat, viscous sound and flexible patching; the polyphonic Polysix (1981),; the thick 4VCO Mono/Poly (1981), which could be used as both a monophonic and polyphonic synth, and the ARP 2600 (1971) and ARP ODYSSEY (1972), both originally developed by the legendary American company, ARP.

Famous digital KORG synths don’t get much bigger than the M1 (1988), a multi-purpose workstation that transformed the musical environment for musicians becoming one of the most successful synthesizers of all time. KORG’s breakthrough synth of the 1990s, the KORG TRINITY (1995). Then there’s the massive TRITON (1999), which underpinned so much of the music, TV and film worlds of the 2000s; followed by the TRITON Extreme (2004), the culmination of the Triton series, and which became the first workstation featuring an inbuilt vacuum tube for unique sound processing.

Also included are the world’s most popular synthesizer, the analogue modeling microKORG (2002); the ELECTRIBE-R (1999), an outstandingly popular, quirky rhythm machine; the KAOSS PAD (1999), the touch pad controlled effects processor that continues to play an active role in studios and on stages worldwide. The vast collection of digital synthesizers includes the revolutionary vector synthesis machine WAVESTATION (1990) as well as the innovative physical modeling Prophecy synthesizer (1995), and all of this is topped off with a comprehensive collection of sounds programs to inspire musicians everywhere.

Completing the range of keyboard instruments are the SGX-2 premium piano engine featured in the state-of-the-art KRONOS, the VOX Super Continental combo organ and the EP-1 electric piano, both of which have inspired musicians since the 60s.

The KORG Collection showcases some of the highlights in the history of KORG, featuring a comprehensive range of famous, timeless analogue and digital sounds found in some of the legendary synthesizers used around the world and featured in sounds, songs and movies from the 60s to the present day!"
