OCTAL: sequencable effects by DenverSynthLabs
video upload by manmade madman
"Imagine being able to sequence different effects blocks as you wish. Imagine being able to send to a delay only on steps 5 and 9. Imagine being able to slew between effects slowly. Imagine if these effects blocks had LFO's for parameters to modulate them automatically. Imagine if you could choose from 34 effects blocks of different types. Imagine if you could quickly randomize everything to spit out a new sound. Imagine if you could change opamps, diodes, capacitors, and component age without a screwdriver and popping open something vintage.
Imagine no more!
Here's OCTAL. An 8-block sequence-able effects rack that lets you lightly touch or completely mangle your audio input into something fresh. An effects playground, if you will. Chain things in any order, then re-order them freely, just to hear how it sounds. Cascade blocks into each other, stacking sounds that build and grow. Or simply hit the EZ button and let it choose for you. Then sequence all that for certain steps only. Assign LFO's to automatically swell, dip, crunch, or delay sounds so that its just how you like it. Or, do that all at once, times 8.

"Imagine sending audio to a delay only on steps 5 and 9. Imagine slewing a filter between steps. OCTAL is eight effect boxes in series with a 16-step sequencer underneath: pick what's in each box, then program which boxes switch on at each step and where their knobs sit. Every box is its own little pedal, with its own paint, lettering, and wear.
- Eight boxes in series, each fitted with any of 34 effects — compressor, gate, saturation, overdrive, distortion, fuzz, filters, flanger, phaser, chorus, reverbs, delays, ring mod, pitch, stutter, an IMPOSSIBLE valve, and more
- Every box is wired like a vintage rack unit: coupling caps and op-amps in and out, with a chip you choose (741, 4558, TL072, NE5532, or WIRE for none), plus DRIVE and AGE trimpots — so you can hear new versus vintage on any effect
- 16-step sequencer: click steps, choose which boxes fire on them, and turn a knob to record that value into the selected steps. Green steps play their boxes; SLEW sets how fast knobs glide between steps
- One-click jobs: ALL, ALL FX, STEPS menu (every other, the four beats, 1–8, 9–16), FILL for staccato patterns, ROTATE, and drag a step onto others to copy it
- A tempo-synced LFO on every box, with its own depth — plus rolled ROM chips and per-box AGE and DRIVE
- EZ rolls a whole new chain and sequence, with EZ LOCK for the chain or the sequence, and UNDO to take it back
- 94 factory presets to get ideas flowing, 53 of them Shane's own patches exactly as he saved them. Step through with the arrows and every one is a working rhythm, swell or texture to dissect and rebuild
- Follows your DAW transport or runs its own clock; presets save the boxes, knobs, LFOs, order and sequence
