200 vs 200e & source of wiggleocity
Published on Jun 6, 2015 peff .com
"First time interfacing the old super easel with 200e modules. I've never closely calibrated the 200's oscillators and discovered that it's scaled to 2.4V/octave. So it's not exactly compatible with the 1.2v/oct of the 200e system."

Each year we make a modular music compilation based upon a theme which comes from a consensus of all the interested participants. Last year opus was promoted through VSE but i thought you might be interested in relaying it through your blog as well.

In case you were wondering what a $3500 module looks like...
via the seller: "Shown for sale is a near-pristine (screw wear only) Buchla 249e Dual Arbitrary Function Generator, lovingly referred to by many as the DARF.
This incredibly rare sequencer module was made in very limited quantities during the earliest era of the e-series Buchla Modular Synthesizer. Two tracks of 24-steps with multiple pulse and CV outputs, sequence scanning inputs and all sorts of other wild tricks!
This module has been thoroughly tested and is working properly.
This auction includes only the module as shown."

Buchla 259 Processing
Published on May 20, 2015 Todd Barton
"Continuing in my didactic mode here is a demo of creating different processed layers from a single sequence using just two oscillators. For better audio:
http://soundcloud.com/user7621213/buc...
This is a simple 7 stage sequence going to the Principal Osc and a low pitch bending bass from the Modulation Osc.
Using the Buchla 205 Audio Matrix I have split up 2 of the audio outs of the Principal Oscillator and sent them to different sections of the 292 for processing, I’ve further taken those independent outs and sent them to the 296 Spectral Processor and 277r Delay. Similarly I’ve used audio outs of the Modulation Oscillator and sent them to the 292 and beyond.
This little video demonstrates the various processing via the 205 matrix mixer along with some FM and feedback echo on the 277 and AM modulation of the Principal at times. Enjoy!"

Todd Barton and Bruce Bayard, are joined by special guests Sarah Belle Reid and Ryan Gaston from California Institute of the Arts.
This concert is free and open to the public.
Sarah Belle Reid is a trumpet player, intermedia artist, and improvisor who is described as having an onstage presence that is both captivating and passionate. Sarah is an endlessly curious artist, one who collaborates closely with composers, choreographers, actors, and multimedia artists, and is always eager to experiment and explore novel approaches to expression. More than a trumpeter, Sarah has been described by audiences as a true “character” and “story-teller”; a musician whose drive to innovate and re-imagine performance is at the heart of her artistic vision. Sarah holds an MFA in trumpet performance from the California Institute of the Arts.
Ryan Gaston is a composer, bandleader, and sound artist from Little Rock, Arkansas. Currently a candidate for an MFA in Experimental Sound Practices at the California Institute of the Arts, Ryan's work centers around musical interface/instrument design, modular synthesizer performance, network music, and research into techniques for sound spatialization and strategies for notation and analysis of electronic and timbre-based music. Fascinated by developing new modes of listening and performing, Gaston writes both performed and recorded music that seeks to exploit the unique possibilities of its own venue of realization--be it a concert hall, dingy dive bar, art gallery, or a pair of headphones.
all best wishes, hope to see you there,
Todd"

Buchla AI Analog Intelligence
Published on May 16, 2015 Todd Barton
"This is a purely self-generating patch. I’m surprised by the “almost human” choices of pitch, articulation, dynamics, ornaments, vibrato, portamento and phrasing in this patch. Analog Intelligence. You, at times, can almost hear the tonguing of a single reed-like instrument, i.e. Duduk or Clarinet. The heart and brains of the patch is the Buchla Source of Uncertainty 266e module which is randomly modulating the Buchlidian equivalent of EG, LFO, VCA, VCF, MOD, etc. For better audio:
