Multivox MX-202 String and Brass Synth SN 230161

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Great Multivox string and brass machine. Basically a spec for spec copy of the Roland RS-202 string and brass instrument only that it goes C to C instead of F to F. This is a simple but unique instrument - there are brass, strings 1 and 2, with the ability to blend them. There's vibrato, a little bit of envelope control and the most epic feature of them all... the ensemble (Chorus) effect, which has 2 modes. There's something really magical about these effects - they turn a relatively simple synth sound into a beautiful warm swirling analog string / brass patch. I mostly used this with a stereo reverb pedal which gave me really awesome Solina-type sounds."

Multivox MX-3000

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction, also on Reverb

Note the larger keys in the bass section.

"MX3000 partially working but that needs servicing. Check the video here or on Youtube to see what's working, it covers pretty much everything.
But basically this is the state:
Channel 1 / Bass: everything is working properly
Channel 2 / Polyphonic:
All the preset sounds are working, as long as the "ensemble" fx and the "full rotor" fx. Filter, enveloppe and LFO mainly also. Velocity too.
What is not working correctly: all keys are working but a few notes (3 or 4) have a distorded sound. Lfo delay, glide and release are not working.
Channel 3 / Mono: oscillator is not sounding. From what I can tell VCF, VCA, LFO and noise generator are working.

In the mixer the Ch 2 direct is not working (but it's basically the Ch2 dry sound so it's probably nothing).
Overall condition is quite good: the panel is very clean. Case has some wear but still in good shape and complete with lid. Keyboard is not so great, lower part (bass part) keys are different from upper part, this is not original.

There may be some other minor things I forgot to mention but again check the video and you'll have a good idea of what you get."

Multivox MX-3000 Polyphonic Synthesizer SN 856031

via this auction

You can find additional posts featuring the Multivox MX-3000 including demos here.

"This one is going to need to a lot of tlc but it’s super rare... 'The Multivox MX-3000 is actually a combination of 3 synths in one case:
-A monophonic Bass-synth. This synth is capable of 3 kinds of bass-sounds: soft, medium & sharp, and only playable on the lowest 2 octaves. It has portamento with adjustable speed and you can choose out of 3 types of preprogrammed EGs:
-ADR
-ADSR
-Hold
Only the Release is adjustable.

-A polyphonic (String)Synth. This synth has a polyphony of 61 and contains 8 presets which you can alter with the onboard filters. Presets are: Soft Bass (with adjustable volume), Wood, Brass, Reed, String, Piano, Honky Tonk & Harpsichord. The last 3 presets are velocity sensitive which is adjustable. The polysynth contains an LFO for VCO as well for VCF.

The VCO contains a glide/bend function which can be switched off and LFO-modulation with delay is possible. The VCF contains CutOff, Resonance, EG-intensity and LFO Modulation. There are 2 preprogrammes EG-settings, ADR & ASR. You can also bypass these settings and use your own Attack and Decay/Release settings. Also present are a Ensemble-mode which thickens the sound and a Fullrotor which is actually a kind of Phaser. Speed and intensity are adjustable.

-A monophonic lead synth This synth is only playable on the upper 3 octaves. The VCO contains of sawtooth, square, pulse, triangle waves and noise. Portamento is possible and the waves can be transposed to 3 octaves (Low, Medium, High). LFO-modulation is also possible. The VCF contains an ADSR, CutOff, Resonance, EG-intensity (for the VCF-ADSR) and LFO Modulation. The VCA contains an ADSR, LFO-Modulation and a Selektor which can be switched from the normal ADSR to Repeat or Hold. The LFO is available in sawtooth, sinus and square.

Every section has it's own volume and output an can be switched on or off, so it's possible to use all 3 sections at once. All in all makes this synth a truly unique one, both in it's possibilities as in the sounds.

Comments About the Sounds:
Screaming monophonic leads are possible, but this synth produces also the coolest and heaviest bass-sounds and also has that famous JMJ-strings.Killer synth.'"

Guitar Sound Processor - Nuova Elettronica

video by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

Multivox MX-3000 at 1:09.

"A quick sound test of the very rare multi-effect unit from Italy.

Looks great, rather big with nice knobs.

These were sold as kits via mail order from the magazine Nuova Elettronica, a subscription magazine that offered build-it-yourself kits of all kinds of gear, hi-fi amplifiers and short wave radios, but also music gear such as drum machines, a couple of synths and effect pedals.

A great helper for organs or cheap string machines or poly-synths that need some flanging and muddy repeats.

The Chorus only affects the Delay repeats, not the dry signal."

"Multivox MX-202 String & Brass synthesizer Made in japan total copy of Roland RS-202
there's a cool article in Sound on Sound about the 2 : '' Opening up my RS202 produced a second surprise. The boards in the Roland may be laid out differently from those in the MX202, but apart from a bit of point-to-point cabling in the Multivox where the Roland uses connectors, you could pull a board out of one of these synths, and stick it in the other. I'm not talking just about geometry here. Other than the keyboard mechanism and the details of which screw goes where, these boards are the same, right down to component level.
In other words, the MX202 and the RS202 are the same instrument. ''
Everything works, got that great analog sound, and you turn on those chorus options and bam ahhhh here it is, that Classic Roland vintage sound."

via this auction

You can find a couple of demos of one in previous posts here.

"Multivox MX-65, in a wonderfull playing condition and in a really good esthetical condition. All the keys are working perfectly. All the section knobs are working too. The knob of the filter section is broken but it does not have much incidence on playing. This is a little keyboard with a great potential and has a real rich sound. The feeling of the keys is pretty good, not cheap and all the keys are pretty white. Serial number is 564198.."

"Very cool and rare synthesizer. I’ve been putting in some time getting it up and running and stable. As it sits it needs some new interconnects. Since I’ve had it I have been able to use each of the four sections. The board connectors aren’t reliable so I was planning on switching them out. Right now, the poly synth section isn’t working. It cut out because the connectors aren’t making contact. When it was working better it was sounding great. This one is going to need to a lot of tlc but it’s super rare and totally worth the investment. It has some pitting on the front panel but it’s still intact. The tolex is peeling and it would look great redone. The metal trim that goes around the end caps is missing. The power cable is laughable. You’ll probably want to replace it right away. All of the knobs are there! The keys are yellowed from cigarette smoke and you can smell it if you put your face up to it. I was able to clean all the keys so the keyboard isn’t smelly."

"Up for sale super rare late 70s/early 80s analog string synth Multivox Mx-65 included with vintage retro wooden hard case / flight case.
This one is in good working shape considering its age.
All keys, knobs, switches, faders and buttons work fine, only issue is on the LFO section the Delay fader parameter is not working.

Its in fine cosmetic condition, visible signs of usage and time, some wear and tear scratches and keys have become yellowish. Interestingly it has KORG painted marked on the back side.

Check the short video demo of unit in action."

Vintage 1970's Ace Tone MultiVox Rhythm Ace FR-8L Analog Drum Machine

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Manufactured by Ace Electronics in Japan and marketed in the US by Multivox. Founded in 1960 by Ikutaro Kakehashi, Ace Tone can be considered an early incarnation of the Roland Corporation, which was also founded by Kakehashi. The FR-8L was Ace Tone predecessor to the Roland TR-77.

This particular model appears to be the portable version of the FR-8L, having a carrying handle and rugged case vs. the wood grain finish of other versions. The unit is in very good cosmetic condition for its age. Output was tested using a 1/4" headphone jack and all functions appeared to work. As noted in the description condition, there is a slight scratching sound in the potentiometer slider for a couple of the drum effects, but when set, they work fine.

After powering on the unit, the "Start/Stop" touch sensitive metal button on the upper left is pressed to start and stop the rythm."

PULSER M75 Analog Synthesizer 1977 | HD DEMO

Published on May 21, 2020 AnalogAudio1

M75 or MX-75?

"(c) 2020 by AnalogAudio1

I played the Pulser M75 partly with delay effects from a Korg SDD-3000 (right channel only). Be careful with headphones, it's raw analog power ;-)

The Pulser M75 was manufactured in Japan in 1977 by 'Pulser Corporation'. It's identical to the Multivox MX75. The keyboard has aftertouch ('touch sensor effect') which can control vibrato depth, volume, pitch, growl and such things. It's a monophonic synthesizer with 2 VCOs, 1 Lowpass Filter, 1 VCA, 1 LFO, Sample & Hold, Noise Generator and presets, which you can modify. It's not really free programmable, but you can do some nice things with it: great leads, basses and FX. It has a very pleasing vintage analogue tone. A cool and rare synth!"

Vintage 1978 Multivox MX-75 / Pulser Dual Voice Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is the Multivox MX-75 Dual Voice Synthesizer, also known as the Hillwood Pulser M75 Dual Voice Synthesizer.

Unlike other Multivox/Hillwood synths you never seem to see the rare MX-75 for sale.

The Hillwood Pulser was developed and built by Hillwood (aka Firstman) in Japan. These synths were then rebadged as Multivox and sold in America. This is a very early example: the Multivox name was on stickers placed over the Pulser name on the front and back; later examples had Multivox painted directly onto the case.

This synth has some scratches on the case but other than that is all-original and in 100% working condition. It sounds amazing."

"Multivox MX-2000 Duo Analogue Synth from 1979. A duophonic mono synth, super rare. Fully working and built like a tank. Sounds like a fatter version of the Roland SH-2000 and certainly a lot rarer.

A really interesting synth I’ve used this a lot especially for drum n bass and super raspy bass. It’s got aftertouch, growl and a whole load of built in effects which make for really interesting and unique playing."
