"This Little MCV is super handy and in excellent shape. It works great with V/oct or V/Hz synths. Also has 3 different trig settings. Depending on the synth you're using, you might have to tune or trim the MCV with the little pots on the side. Easy to use and best of all, it has a normal plug on it! No wall wart!"

via the seller: "Roland SH-101 which comes with a Phillip Rees Little MCV MIDI to CV converter, a pair of 3.5mm to ¼ inch jack leads for CV and gate, a device I made to filter out the hum from power transformers, a midi cable and a couple of patch leads as I have a few spare - they may be useful if you intend to use the MIDI to CV for other equipment...
I have calibrated the tuning so the octaves are correctly spaced and I also removed the keyboard assembly to clean the keys as best I could, though didn't disassemble the actual assembly. I have also given all the plastic knob caps a clean and cleaned and lubricated all of the potentiometers (sliders and knobs). There was some surface rust (probably battery leakage?) on the bottom plate and on a bit of the keyboard assembly which I have scrubbed off as best I can..."

"This is a follow up response to an eBay question if this sync convertor works.
Here is a short vid to prove it does."

Philip Rees MDS Midi to DIN Sync convertor 240v
"Midi In
Midi Thru
Sync Out
It has an Australian plug on it but can be swapped out for other counties 240v plugs if needed.
It might just be that this is totally redundant but it is a piece of synth history and is worth keeping in the community rather than landfill.

KORG MS20 and Philip Rees Little MCV
"The first affordable modular synthesiser. Manufactured from 1978 to 1983 and still a classic. Its patch bay enables it to be physically re-modelled, similarly to the ARP 2600, but on a smaller (and affordable) scale. An external signal processor allows the connection of an external signal, which can be used to control the synthesised tone, or added to the signal path. It can produce incredible bass sounds (using the High Pass Filter as an oscillator)."

At first I thought the speaker was built into the Philip Rees. I checked the label below and see that it's actually a separate until and just resting on top of the speaker. Amazing how well they line up.

Roland SH-101 with Philip Rees MIDI to CV
"The phillip rees gives you provision to control two CV controlled synths at the same time (not independently). Extensive gate tailoring including s-triggering, Velocity and pitchbend range. The SH101 has a jack socket on the back for modulation of the filter using velocity messages from a sequencer, this enables filter control from your sequence. This is a mod i have added myself and adds a new dimention when sequencing."
