RSF Modular 11 with Polyclavier 8 voice keyboard

via this auction

"Super rare RSF Modular 11 with Polyclavier.

These are extremely rare modules built by Ruben and Serge Fernandez from France,Toulouse.

These modules have been built in 1977 and 1978.Not more than 300 modules in total have been built for a total of 20 systems. So RSF is even rare than old Buchla.

Some systems have been in private collections and been put into larger cases. So less than 20 systems are available.

These 2 systems are working on 220v,so a voltage converter will be needed to use it in the USA and Japan.

About 75% of the modules are working. They do need to be serviced, some pots cleaned, calibration, repairs, tuning,...

Whats in the systems: 5x VCO, 4x VCA, 2x ENV, 2x VCF, 2x Mixer,2x Power,1x ENV FOL,1x S&H/Noise.

The keyboard is a 8 voice keyboard with 8 seperate cv/gates, arpeggiator, sequencer wich can have sequences uploaded thru the cassette player/recorder from RSF.

There is also a cassette player/recorder originaly built by RSF(stamp underneath)wich works at 220v.

It can be connected to the keyboard as there is a flat cable inside the keyboard that fits on the cassette player/recorder.

I also have paperwork and schematics to have certain repairs/services done to the modules."

This one spotted by Kyle.

RSF Modular 11: Largest collection worldwide?

flickr By jobenbelgium

"I think that this is the biggest RSF Modular 11 system in the world. Not seen many of these since the 15 years i'm playing synthesizers/ modulars. Also notice the RSF Polyclavier, wich gives you 8x cv-gate, sequencer, arpeggiator. The best known product by RSF was the Kobol Expander, which was also available in a monophonic keyboard, and there was also the bigger Polykobol, but these have been built in low quantitys."

Update via tesl@ in the comments: "The biggest RSF system is an custom full 8 voice, full modular patchable and with memorys aswell for the knobs and patches (yes!) its hosted all in 19'' format racks. Only 2 prototype systems where made. Peter B. was one of the conceptors.

The systems still excist,on is in Belgium the other in USA."

And via D' Naab 136:
"These big 8 voice systems with memory are not modular 11 systems.
These are systems composed of 8 x expander I's, 2 x expander II's, 2 x prorammers and polyclavier.
More than 2 exist:
-I know of one here in Belgium.
-One of these monsters was sold last year for only 9000 EUR in France.
-Another one was also up for auction at vemia last year."

RSF Kobol Modular: 41U rare Kobol rackmounts!

via this VEMIA auction

"This is a monstrous and extremely rare RSF Kobol modular system composed of 8x Kobol Expander 1s with cv gate, modulation, audio in and programmer expansions, 1x Expander II, 2x Programmer sequencers, 1x Keyboard mixer, patchbay and Polyclavier (8 voices and sequencer) that can drive the whole system. All modular system is perfectly working and fully tested. About the Polyclavier status, I have just plugged the keyboard and tried for a while...and all seems to be ok. The Kobol modules are fitted on three high quality professional travel cases, closable as a cube... very nice! I'm not sure if it was this one, but seems that a similar Kobol big modular was used on the Jean Michel Jarre China tour in the '80s ... The cosmetic condition is very good apart from the Polyclavier upper wood and front left corner which need some restoration. Working voltage is 220 /240 volts. (VEMIA note: please bear in mind that the owner isn't guaranteeing that all Polyklavier functions are 100%, because he is not familiar with it.)"

Olivier Grall's Yusynth Modular

via Yves:
"it has been added in the modular section of Olivier's web site.

It is the serial #001 and was built in parallel with my own yusynth modular serial #000. It's a jointed project by Olivier (front plate engraving, assembling,
woodwork) and I (electronic design, electronic construction, woodwork).

Here is a picture of my yusynth #000 in construction.

For those who wonder the availability of such systems, this is DIY stuff ONLY and these synths are not commercial products, they are not for sale and I do not build synths for others ( sorry about that ;-) ). However, I provide all the information at my site for those who would like to build their own.

Cheers
Yves"
