Sonicware ELZ_1 Play | Ambient explorations
video upload by Jay Hosking
"Please support my work on Patreon: / jayhosking
Two ambient pieces composed and performed live on the ELZ_1 Play, with effects.
00:00 - Song 1
04:22 - Song 2
Sonicware sent the ELZ_1 Play over for me to explore because of its big new firmware update. To be honest, there is an overwhelming number of synth engines and effects within the ELZ_1 Play and I only briefly explored the options with any systematicity. Most of the time, I found the synth was a nice device to tweak presets or dial in a sound quickly based on a particular engine type.
A few of the synth engines are quite beautiful and unique, including some tuned noise that it is really pretty. For these explorations, I was mainly drawn to sounds I can't normally make on my other synths, like electric pianos or organs. The options to make and tweak whatever you want are there, but they require you navigating the menus to find them. That aspect works perfect well, but mostly I found the ELZ_1 Play was a great couch device where I noodle.
The biggest and best surprise was definitely the looper, which allows you to have four separate, synchonized or asynchronous loops just spinning away. The looper is an easy way to quickly find inspiration and compose something new.
For these live performances, I've also paired the ELZ_1 Play with a few effects to extend or build the ambient sketch into something a little more complete. The Walrus Qi adds some granular, delay, chorus, and reverb to the finale of the first piece, and the Meris Polymoon adds its phased delay-verb to the second. I also thought I'd try the Soma Cosmos as a different take on the looping idea for the second track.
Overall, I found the ELZ_1 Play to be a good companion for those tired days where all the music-making energy I had was on the couch. Having so many engine types meant I could explore new sounds, and having the asynchronous looper meant I was often quickly in the territory of a full piece.
Thanks for listening.

Looking Outside: Synthesizer and Eurorack Performance
video upload by MKustomAudio
"Three tracks created by using standalone synthesizers and eurorack modules. Sequenced from the Squarp Hermod+, I thought about recording everything simultaneously, but I decided to record it in groups to allow for more hands on manipulation of the equipment.
For drums, samples were loaded into the 1010music 'Bitbox Micro' with the following modules also used for processing the summed samples: Make Noise 'QPAS', Xaoc 'Koszalin', Qu Bit 'Mojave' and 'Nautilus', Erica Synths 'Blackhole DSP 2', Qu Bit 'Data Bender' (triggered/modulated using the Make Noise '0-CTRL'), and Noise Engineering 'Librae Legio'.
For synthesizers, the following hardware was used: Sonicware 'Evoke', Korg 'Arp 2600m' and 'Minilogue XD', Sequential 'OB-6 Desktop', Novation 'Peak' and 'Circuit Mono Station'.

Minimal house session with CyDrums, Moog One & Nord Lead : Put up 2025-10-13 by atnr
video upload by atnr
"A piece created with @SONICWARE CyDrums, @MoogSynthesizers Moog One, and @NordKeyboards Nord Lead — a hand-played minimal house track built around an even kick groove.
CyDrums provides the even kick, short-decay hi-hats, and toms. The sound is processed with filter and reverb using the @strymon NIGHTSKY, and compression is added via the ALESIS 3630.
The Moog One performs the bassline, while the Nord Lead handles the harmony. The Nord Lead runs through the @gfisys Specular Tempus for reverb."

Electronica session with LIVEN Ambient Ø & CS01 : Overcast Sky 2025-10-04 by atnr
video upload by atnr
"A piece created with SONICWARE LIVEN Ambient Ø and YAMAHA CS01. Quiet ambient electronica.
On the Ambient Ø, sequences are played while synth pads are performed with the built-in keyboard. The output is processed through the MOOD MKII with added delay and micro-loop effects.
The CS01 plays a sound with slow attack and release, processed through NIGHTSKY with long-decay reverb and filtering. At times, INFINITE is switched on to create sustained tones."

This Drum is a Synthesizer!!!
video upload by Dylan Ferno
"This is a tutorial on how to get a variety of different sounds out of a steel tongue drum and handpan, without and added external effects from guitar pedals or a computer.
I compare sound design techniques on a Kosmosky 12 inch double sided drum to the Sonicware Liven Ambient 0 Synthesizer to demo how to replicate electronic effects acoustically to add different sound quality to your music.
Some of the techniques used here apply to other instruments like guitar, pianos and other percussion instruments, but some are unique to the steel tongue drum due it's unique form, timbre, and long sustain.

Sonicware Liven EVOKE & Novation Circuit Rhythm: Live Ambient Electronic Jam
video upload by Ayohnimus (Official)
"🎵 Welcome back to the jam room! 🎵
This session is all about a dynamic duo for live electronic music: the incredible Sonicware Liven EVOKE and the powerful Novation Circuit Rhythm.
The Liven EVOKE provides the rich, evolving soundscapes with its unique granular and "Acoustronic" synthesis engine, creating the perfect ambient foundation. The Circuit Rhythm takes over on the beats, driving the groove with its intuitive sequencing and punchy samples.
This is a completely live performance, showing how these two pieces of gear can be used together to create a full, immersive track. If you're a fan of ambient, techno, or hardware-focused jams, you'll love this!"

Stylophone Gen X-2 & Lofi-12 XT Acid Jam - Men Only Want One Thing And It's Disgusting Acid
video upload by ChrisLody
"Full Disclosure: I occasionally take on freelance work at Sonicware and Stylophone on an hourly rate producing synth & sample sound design, beta testing, checking English text, video manuals, promo content etc. This video wasn't paid for directly but as a result of my work with Sonicware and Stylophone it is marked as Paid Promotion
Time for some more weekend acid it seems!
The good people over at Stylophone sent me the Gen X-2 so I can make some promotional work for them, but of course it needs a good test 😁so time for some acid😈
This jam uses the Korg SQ-1 as a sequencer to control it because the new Gen X-2 model has gate and CV inputs meaning I can create a sequence and get it to sync up with other gear where as the Gen X-1 was played by the stylus only. I'm also running the Gen X-2 through an unbranded Vintage Overdrive that my wife found as a freebie on Temu of all things. To my surprise it's actually pretty good and pairs nicely with the Gen X-2. I did have to use an inline isolator between the Gen X-2 and pedal though as it was generating a lot of digital noise otherwise.
The Lofi-12 XT is being used to add delay and reverb to the Gen X-2 and I'm using the new v1.5 feature of being able to sidechain external sources again because it's super useful for letting the kick cut through on things like this."

Granular Effects Explained | w/ Sonicware Liven Evoke | What All The Parameters Do
How To Use Them video upload by Sonic Cartography
Sonic Cartography Sonicware Liven videos
"Using some crude paper animations and the Sonicware Liven Evoke as demonstration platform, I explain a whole bunch of parameters of granular effects and synthesis—both what they are and how to use them: buffer, spray, diffusion, direction, shape, feedback, alignment, range, jitter, and more. From a filming/editing standpoint, this is the most elaborate video I've ever made, so I hope people like it...
This video also features very brief cameos from the Texture Lab & the @HologramElectronics Microcosm."

Yamaha MU15 Demo Jam - (All sound is MU15, No Talking)
video upload by ChrisLody
"Recently a good friend and YouTuber @clajmo (Clarke Jaxton Motorbike) was nice enough to send me his Yamaha MU15 to play with. This jam is a result of playing around in Yamaha XGWorks to tweak the XG sound banks hidden parameters, then sequencing it all with the Sonicware Smpltrek.
I'll planning a nerdy deep dive on the MU15 because it very impressive for the era and it size. No external effects or even EQ were used on this video. All the sound is directly from the MU15 with only a little limiting used to get it up to sensible YouTube volume levels.
The MU15 is an 'XG' sound module which is an advanced extension of the 'GM' (general midi) standard. It has a huge amount of parameter inside to tweak, like per drum effects send, filter and envelope setting for example, so a lot can be achieved with it.
Btw I'm testing out some images in my jam video thumbnails to try to distinguish them from tutorials, still playing with the style etc at the mo."

Beginner's Guide to Sound Design, Feat. Sonicware Liven Evoke | LFOs, Filters, & Amp Envelopes
video upload by Sonic Cartography
"A tutorial on the basics of sound design, featuring the Sonicware Liven Evoke, focusing on LFOs, filters, and amplitude envelopes, and providing an overview of attack, release, cutoff, resonance, and LFO assignment, shape, rate, depth, trigger, and delay settings. This is part 3 of a series I'm doing on the Evoke (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list..., but it can be watched independently of the other parts and doesn't require that you have an Evoke to get something out of it, I think/hope.
This video is meant to be as beginner-friendly as possible, so at the beginning of sections, I go over basics that may "go without saying" for more experienced people. This is intentional. I remember back when I was just getting started with synths, all the videos I watched seemed to assume too much was "obvious" or already known, and I've consciously tried to avoid that here and make the sort of video I wish I had back then."
