OP-XY: A year on. It's 100% my favourite box ever by far. Trip-Hop Live Jam
video upload by Dan Chippendale
"So I looked at the calendar and low and behold, I got my OP-XY exactly a year ago (my first video was posted a few days later on the 28th Aug 25. This thing gets me. I get it. I don't know which way round but I'm now making music that matches my vision. I seem to be able to squeeze sounds out of it that I love and I grow to love it more and more each time. Thank you @teenageengineering for making such an incredible device and I look forward to the future of the OP-XY platform!
Hope you enjoy

Beetlecrab Tempera meets Novation Mininova sounds - sonic chaos!
video upload by hirundo1984
"Alright, there are nearly endless possibilities of exploring various sounds and creating something new. This might be a very interesting combo."
Beetlecrab Tempera - after 3 days of using it
video upload by hirundo1984
"I recently received my unit from Beetlecrab and was super excited about it! At this moment I'm still learning the very basics, trying to figure out what is what, how do things work etc.
There are things that I find pretty straightforward, others are still confusing. Overall, the menu diving isn't bad at all, most of the things are pretty intuitive.
What is new to me (that's my first granular device) is how exactly do these emitters work, I will need to spend some time with the manual. They all behave differently.
Anyway, so that's one of my first attempts to create something on this wonderful device. Hopefully within next week or two I can learn a thing or two and come up with something different."

A live synthesizer jam performed entirely on hardware.
I enjoyed having the Vongon Solarfaze and Polyphrase on the table for my last jam and left them there on a whim. That was the starting point. Next, I needed to run a synth through them, so I chose the Novation Circuit Monostation. I borrowed the CMS from a friend and had been looking to make some music with it; my opinion is that it's an extremely underrated synth that can do way more than people recognized at the time. And once I had its sequencer running and a bassline queued up, I could hear more of what was needed.
I also recently got a couple of Stylophones, because they are extremely affordable—the S-1 was something like $60 Canadian—and because I like the sound of them. Using the CMS's CV outputs, I sent a second set of sequences to the Gen X-2, which has CV input. I also took advantage of the Gen X-2's beautiful internal delay for cascading performances. The S-1 ended up my improv melody device for the last third of the song.
At this point, I needed reverb but didn't want to add multiple reverb boxes, so I added the Jellymix to act as stereo send to all the synths. For reverb, I chose the Swells, because I currently have it in a case with the Fieldtone Weaver and Qu-Bit Stardust, which can add a lot to a mix through stereo sample mangling. The Stardust is playing something that came from the CMS into Weaver; the Weaver is playing a snippet of my voice.
By this point, I could hear the full song, and it was just a matter of adding a couple of sequences and performing the whole thing. Pretty fun to see how wanting to explore a bit of hardware can lead to a finished song.
Performed and recorded live to a stereo output from the Jellymix, with EQ, compression, and limiting on the master.

The LOST Bad Gear Episode
video upload by AudioPilz
"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. In a time like ours when material needs no longer exist in music production the accumulation of things seems to have become more important than ever.
Today we are going to talk about Novation Drumstation. While today’s synth clones are mostly used for home studio decoration this 1996 drum machine and shameless Roland TR-808 and 909 ripoff was more or less the only affordable way to actually tweak the iconic drum sounds. Simpler times."
