"This unit can take a thin digital sawtooth oscillator and transform it into a swelling chorusy string synth that would make Vangellis proud. It's based on the classic sounds of iconic string synths of the 70's such as the Solina, Roland RS505, Yamaha SS330, Korg Lamda, and so on!

If you've got a soft spot for that classic string sound, but don't have the space for any of the above mentioned beastly analog synths, this little rack unit makes a great addition to the studio. Its what convinced me to sell a few string synths and it can make my micro-brute sound like a Roland RS-09."

E-bow is used in one moment. Guitarist now can enjoy the warm triple bbd chorus, full analog sound! Logan string melody meets the elkorus

"This day, the Logan string machine visits Wutierson studio and it's imposible to don't do experiments with an elkorus.
The different types of chorus available at the Logan are very useful. It makes more versatile to process.
Tweaking the elkorus parameters + the Logan chorus I can make even more deep and lush chorus... ensemble of ensemble! a six line chorus! : )
No more effects are present, it's just Logan + elkorus v3"

Among other improvements this second version includes three modulation outputs corresponding to each BBD (audio delay chip) modulation phase, which means:
LFO1+2 at 0º modulation phase
LFO1+2 at 120º modulation phase
LFO1+2 at 240º modulation phase

This video suggest just one use for those modulation outputs, like to modulate a three VCA's bank panned 1 to 50% left and right, 2 to 100% right and 3 to 100% left in order to obtain an auto-panner effect.
The sound source is the Roland JX-8P processed througt the élkorus at the
same time.

"My tech Sergio has put together a major revamping of the élkorus, a 1U chorus effect that you posted some time ago [all posts]. It is basically a reproduction of the circuit, involving vintage TCA-350 bbd ICs, of the ensemble effect featured in the ARP solina string machine.

Among the improvements, it can process stereo signals now. Plus, CV ins and outs have been added, with the interesting possibility of creating a chorusy effect modulating external VCOs.

However, the nature of the effect remains unchanged from v.1 - he's still using fully analog circuitry.

The élkorus is an analog chorus module that re-creates the legendary ensemble effect that identifies some string machines from the seventies. Emulation is not achieved with any DSP technology or software. The élkorus sounds analog because it is analog. It features three delay lines and two sinusoidal LFOs that, conveniently summed and phased out, modulate each one of the three delay lines.
Frequency is adjustable for both LFOs within a wide range (1-30 Hz for the ‘high’ LFO and 0.2-8 Hz for the ‘low’ LFO) - so is amplitude (0-max). The ‘high’ LFO has a ‘clipping’ parameter that turns the sinusoidal wave into quasi-trapezoidal. This produces a slightly grainier, older sound.

The three delay lines feature individual level and pan controls, as well as two switchable EQ settings. The pan controls allow for stereo chorus effects with far more control than the old ensemble circuits which this unit re-creates. The three delay lines are symmetrically out of phase (120 degrees). Thanks to the ‘line 2-3 phase’ switch, phase between lines 2 and 3 can be switched to 180 degrees, to emulate ensemble circuits that used only two delay lines (level should be all the way down in line 1).

By the combination of all these settings, different chorus/ensemble effects can be obtained, be them emulations of old string ensembles or new original stereo modulation effects.
